I've been thinking of all the places I buy my shopping from and I realised I have many places where I buy specific things from because they're cheaper than anywhere else. I'm guessing many OS-ers do the same so why not pool resources and share the bargains?

Where do you buy your best value items?

hi, I buy a lot of mr t basics for cleaning, toilet cleaner 27p,hand soap 38p,deodorant 44p, I used to be a brands snob but not now. I find the deo to be great as its not a high smell product as I like to wear perfume it doesn't mix the smells. also a bottle of bleach from HB 39p does most floors and walls and counters diluted in a spray bottle. I don't use air fresheners as they seem to give me the cold! I prefer a scented candle. toilet rolls are nicky from HB or lidls 12 pk for 1.99. food wise I shop everywhere, my mum and bro and sis go Asian supermarket once a month and buy bulk chicken breasts, legs, thighs also ducks we halve these ,also spices, prawns, and various other bits works out cheaper. mum buys magazines which I, my sister, and sister in laws all read before getting passed over to mums sisters so plenty of use there. I enjoy a bargain also get ys stuff if its in big amounts same again split the cost hth xxx

Toilet rolls are either Nicky from HB or one of the bulk packs from B&M.

Pasta and rice are the 39p bags from Morrisons but OH doesn't like the rice, says it doesn't cook well - any one else had that experience?

Instead of buying 5-8 bananas for £1 or so a week to take to work and them going brown before I eat them I buy 1 single banana every day for about 11p.

I have found that Lidl is the best value for cereal, other than value cornflakes from Tesco for 32p. They have a range like frosted flakes/choco pops, and they are reasonably priced for the sizes.

I used to shop online and use mysupermarket.com for the best deal.

Currently I am alternating between Lidl and Aldi to get a good all round shop and have done for a year and a half with amazing savings.

But I am wondering whether to alternate between B&M (all groceries and other stuff) and market (fresh fruit and veg and other stuff) to get the best deal.

If you have a better solution please tell as I am always trying to reduce my spend.

It seems shopping habits are changing. Just because something has always been sold in a certain shop doesn't mean they always has to. In France and Germany for example they have different places to ours where they sell things. Due to refrigeration items don't have to be sold in the traditional way.

The big four are jostling for top spot and can't understand why they are loosing market share on the news but they are really going have to stop ripping us off to survive.

It seems that their profit margins are sacrosanct whereas wages are not!
