New Halifax charges post RDR

Options
Just a post for information purposes.

Halifax just emailed me with their new charges post RDR.

It will be £12.50 to buy/sell the new 'clean' funds (currently £0). Existing funds will be switched over to their clean equivalents from end of Jan.

They did not mention a change to annual admin charges but these are currently £12.50 for an ISA and max £180 for SIPPs (over £50k pot).

Seem very competitive all in all.

Cheers.

Can you tell us their charges for shares, ETFs. Bonds and Gilts, please?

  • Had same email also.

Remembering also that you can also buy for £2 on 4 occasions a month using the share save option - you can use it for single purchases or multiples. They also do an offer once a month where you can deal for £3.95.

    That is set to continue.

Vanguard LS 100% Equity is there but they have told me that the Bond mix LS products will be available soon.

I am happy with Halifax. No £2 platform fees.

Was with HL who I thought were expensive!

Live trading out of the regular scheme and offers is £12.95 per deal plus SDRT.

It's still £11.95 to buy etfs/shares, not sure about bonds/gilts.

They seem quite favourable when compared to the providers who have already shown their hand with the post RDR charges.

Thank you. What if you want to use an ISA wrapper? Are there extra fees for that?

Be interesting to hear in due course what the fees are for Halifax whitelabels (iWeb, Motley Fool, etc)...

ISA annual admin fee is £12.50 which seems very cheap really.

Their website looks like it still shows the old charging for a regular dealing account but this link below refers to their "new charges" for ISAs. Seems very cheap! Looks like previously they offered separate ISAs for funds and shares but not any more:

Can I ask how you were notified about Halifax's intention to make available the various bond-shares mix LifeStrategy producets on their platform? Personal communication, or an email, perhaps?

I ask because if they do, it will probably be the cheapest way for me to hold my current investment in Vanguard's LS 80 fund, assuming Halifax share-dealing service stick with the annual £12.50 charge.

Can Halifax be used to invest in the LifeStrategy funds without a tax wrapper ? I can't seem to find which account you would need to open. Thanks.

It's not very clear but their Share Dealing Account boasts you can "access a wide range of investment options, including shares, funds, ETFs, bonds and gilts, investment trusts and warrants."

I presume therefore that this is the account to use for unwrapped funds. If in doubt I'd contact them.

Currently they only offer Vanguard LifeStrategy 100% Equity Acc.
