Hi
I need to buy a secret santa gift and the colleague I have picked out of the hat is 30 mum of 2 (I'm not sure that is relevant but you may as well have all the facts).

The limit is £5 but happy to spend up to £7 (even though it's probably against the rules), any ideas would be most welcome.

I did think of a silver photo frame with two frames joined so she could pictures of her two children on her desk but as we hot desk that might not be such a good idea. Other than that, I'm stuck!

Thank you

I think a frame sounds like a nice idea; she can have it at home if not at work and if she doesn't want it, it is an easily recycled gift!
  • Our limit is £5 too. I'm not sure who I have yet. If it's a lady I'm going to make a rice heat pack and room spray. If it's a male I'm going to do a pint of socks (i think) are you able to make her sometime. Piece of jewellery or bath bombs?

It's hard buying a gift for someone you don't really know. Ummmm what about a family organising calendar?
    Debts CC1 1424 // CC2 1836.65 // CC3 [STRIKE]973.40[/STRIKE] 823.70 // CC4 [STRIKE]609.05[/STRIKE] 459.04 // Very [STRIKE]422.25[/STRIKE] ah now 533.53 :(
    Total [STRIKE]7036.54[/STRIKE] 5076.92  !!!

    Thank you both.

daisiegg - I've just had a look and I think it's going to be difficult to find a double photo frame for anywhere near £5 so might have to think again.

Antwerpen - I'm not the art/crafty type at all so would find it impossible to make anything that would resemble a gift, although is it easy to make bath bombs?

In terms of a family calendar, her children are very young, about 1 and 3 I think, if they'd been older this would have been a great idea.

  • There are loads of lovely toiletry gifts about for £5 this year - M&S have some lovely reduced sets as have tesco and superdrug.
Or maybe some really nice truffles and mini bottle of wine with a bath bomb - for a relaxing night in.
Or a bottle of wine and glass is nice if she drinks.

I would get a bottle of wine, find out if she prefers red, rose or white or a box of chocolates or decent biscuits. These would be easy for her to share with her family or friends over Christmas or pass on if she doesn't like them.
I wouldn't get toiletries as many people have sensitive skin, or only like particular brands.
We have a secret santa of £5 at work and no one complains when they get a nice bottle of wine! Lots of people get candles, toiletries and trinkets which look very nice but aren't really wanted.

What about a mug she can use at work and fill it with some chocolates or with a drinking chocolate sachet and some marshmallows.

I'm putting together a "night in" pack for my secret santa. Its going to have a Champneys set cost about £4 from boots in an offer. a chic lit book from poundland and a minature bottle of wine. If she is a mum how about small bottle of wine, bar of nice chocolate and a magazine or book and say it is a little bit of a time for her.

I've got 3 kids and would be happy with bubble bath a magazine and a minature baileys just so I could have a hot bath and relax!

I'm a 30 year old (ok, I'm 32) with two kids and I'm with the book and chocolate in the bath idea! Would love it! Not really into smellies or wine. If not then would appreciate little something from accessorize or slipper boots from Primark! Obviously we are all different but sure you can't go far wrong

i would go with something she can use up and then be done with...

    A bottle of wine
    some bubblebath/shower gel
    some nice chocolate
    christmas tea or coffee/hot chocolate

I hate it when someone you barely know want to second guess at your style either in terms of what you wear or how you clutter up your home...so sadly for me the photo frame would be recycled straight away....whereas buying something that can easily be consumed as part of the chrismas festivities or something thats indulgent is always welcome to me

Wrapped prettily or creatively the present always looks better too..

Can you tell im not a huge fan of secret santa...we've 2 to buy each year and have a bulging box of gifts which others have felt were funny/appropriate over the years that in the cold light of day are just plain tat!!!!

The day that these workplaces/schools ask for a monetry donation in place of secret santa to a worthwhile cause will be the day I warm to it all
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend
