    Petplan

Avoid the cheap supermarket ones and if you do decide to go for one, read the terms and conditions thoroughly!

Petplan or the best you can afford.

I have 1 dog and 1 cat with Argos Platinum and 5 cats with PetPlan.

Claimed a lot on Argos, never any problems so good as well.

Been happy with PetPlan, quick payouts, no issues at all.
Have another with M&S but haven't (fingers crossed) claimed on that.

ETA: totally agree with above - avoid 'cheapo' policies!

Another Petplan voter here. Maybe a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

Worth every penny. Some companies will quote you cheap for the first year then hike up the price there on after.
PP goes up by pennies and they dont hike up the premiums if you claim, I can vouch for this as we claimed for 4 years for Teeg, and not little claims either.x

Petplan have a great reputation - and can be moneysaving in many ways. As said, the premiums don't tend to jump - so they may be £32 now but they may stick around that for many years, whereas your £15 cheapy policy could jump to £25 the next year, £35 the year after that, etc. Also, many vets limit which companies they'll claim direct from, due to bad experiences - but with Petplan's great reputation, many vets are happy to deal directly so it saves you having to fork out the money first and then claim it back. Plus, with the premium price comes the premium service - they're much less likely to try to worm out of a claim with petty excuses, like some of the cheaper companies.

If Petplan is out of your budget, my next recommendation would be someone like Axa. I've used them for the last few years and have found the service good, the premiums haven't risen too much, and they've paid my claims without quibble. My vet have done direct claims with them for me too, which helps.

With insurance you don't want to just look at price.

Certainly you could get a much cheaper policy - however these can be very costly in the long term - bad payout %s, bad service, less cover, more exclusions etc.

I've claimed with PetPlan three times - all were done with zero queries, paid within the week. Fingers crossed, so far premiums haven't leapt up much either - very good for a 12 year old dog.

Pet plan or axa here, too. Our last dog was 8 when we had her, so no chance of a lifetime policy for her. Axa worked out better value for her, but there was only £20 a year in it. Our current dog, who's only 2 is with Petplan., on a lifetime policy.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

One of my dogs was 8 when I got her and I had no problem getting a lifetime policy with Axa, she died of kidney failure 3 1/2 years later.
