Well its finally happened, im now debt free. Paid my final barclaycard payment this morning and cleared my overdraft. £29k gone in 6 years.
Just a message to everyone who is aiming to be debt free to keep going, you will get there and it is worth the effort.
6 years of scrimping, bargaining, selling stuff, extra jobs and hard work.
I've learnt to budget, find bargains, mystery shop and I now am so clued up money wise now I am offering advice to other people for them to save money!
Just a big thanks to all on here who have helped with comments and ideas, just reading ideas and suggestions to save money has been so helpful.
CCCS (Stepchange) have been brilliant and I can't thank them enough, they helped me thorugh all the paperwork and it's quite easy once you know your rights.
My big 3 tips for getting though it.
- Buy basics food wise (except meat)
- get reduced price food from supermarkets and markets (i know all the times of when stuff is redcued for all supermarkets near me)
- don't be scared to talk about it with people, there are alot of people in the same situation. I've helped 6 people from going under by helping them, this process is tough but you become enlighted from it.
You can all do it!
