Inflation up and forecast to go over 3%

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22948333

Why do the ONS have to make an excuse every time it goes up ? Can't they just admit this govt.'s economic policies are a shambles ? Probably not, I guess.

Certainly made my mind up to hold onto to my index linked bonds. As for the rest of my savings its becoming increasingly tempting to spend it or emigrate with it to a country with a competent govt.

Saving is becoming a mugs game.

Don't worry, if the Bank of England think it'll go over 3%, then it probably won't.

"However, food and drink prices fell, with a reduction in the cost of meat, vegetables, fruit, sugar and jams."

Interesting I certainly don't see any fall off in the increases in fruit/vegetables/bread or meat.

Given your avatar then I can see that a reduction in jam prices (assuming that includes marmalade) would be rather important, albeit that it is offset by the increase in bread prices :D

I wonder what meat got reduced. Horsemeat? The price of meat certainly hasn't come down in our neck of the woods.

People might be trading down to cheaper cuts, getting value ranges instead, taking advantage of more offers.

    ETA Or buying less meat.

Your personal inflation rate depends on where you live and what you consume.

If you live in a microwave oven and eat nothing but Android 'phones that it might actually have gone down!

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Would honey and marmalade rise in a bear market?

That would be a Michael Bond bear market in Grizzly's case?
