This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,
Sunny and dry here this morning, Not too chilly for this time of morning,
Looks like we shall be in for a nice day here,
Yesterday, Turned out nice In the end, But a bit over cast, We did have a few spots of rain late afternoon, But that was it.
Another full nights sleep for me:j:j That four nights straight now:T:T
All tablets have been taken, I'm on my first coffee of the day, Just waiting for the pain killers to kick In. Slight headache this morning but nothing too bad.
I think I might be getting too much sleep now! Yesterday I fell asleep In my chair on the afternoon to two hours! think I I'm In the habit now of having these afternoon noon naps!
Dinner yesterday was roast pork, In the end we just roasted it as normal, Did not do anything great with it, It was a very tasty Joint of pork, Which for the money we paid for it, It was a great buy.
I had a quite restful farther's day In the end.
the twins got me two new cook books for Fathers day, So there will be more new recipes to try here over the coming months ,
They Got me,
Goodhouse keeping Step by step cook book,
A large Fat book, This book dose not just have recipes In it, But it tells you have to prepare the different fruits, dough's , meat joints, fish, pastry and things like that, Then there are all the recipes In there too, A great book really for people who have never done any cooking as there are loads of basic info in there along with photos to guide you,
It even tell's you how to boil an egg!
The second book is,
The country wise country cook book.
This is one of the books to go along with the ITV show country wise, We have not really seen this program, Only ever seen bit of it, The book is full of Game recipes mostly, But dose have other recipes In there too, And has a great bit all about jam's and Chuntys.
I love game, Wood pigeon is my fav, Not had any in quite a while. This book will not get used that much, We do eat Game, By not as much as we did before the Girls were born, Also the bloke we use to buy our Game from, Has stopped coming to the local farmers market. So we can not get any at the moment,
I have already used to the good house keeping cook book yesterday,
I used there recipe for Flapjack, And very nice it is too, It's better that the other one that I have been using. So I shall be useing this one from now On,
Both book's my wife tells me came from the "Works" Book shop, The good house keeping one cost £7.99, Which for I think Is a good price for what you get. She can not remember the price of the over one. But she thinks it was around the £5 mark. which is a good price but its not a book that everyone would like or use.
No meal plans today, But what ever we have to dinner tonight will involve left over pork from yesterday,
Might have a simple stir fry??????
No other plans for today as yet, The girls are at school and my wife's at work. So I shall be home alone! I do need to pop down to see my dad and give him his fathers day card, he and my Mum were down there caravan the weekend so I did not see him yesterday, I did speak to him on the phone quickly,
Well I hope that you all have a great day,
Enjoy :j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Off to work in a mo , taking my breakfast with me
Hope everyone has a lovely day xx0 -
Morning all!
Glad to see so many nice Father's Day activities going on. My dad died when I was seven so its not something I ever really did. Yesterday DS2 wanted to make pancakes and bacon for hubby, so I did that. The boys each bought him a graphic novel and a gift bag full of crisps.
I spent yesterday doing more cooking. There's 12 portions of chili and 3 chicken and ham pies in the freezer. I also made a raspberry and almond loaf which tasted lovely but the raspberries sank. It was because it needed frozen raspberries, I took mine out of the freezer but then I ran out of almond extract so had to go and buy some. The raspberries defrosted wile I was messing about.
DS1 has his last exam today. Maths is his best subject so he isn't too worried. He's been studying hard anyway. It's his birthday on Wednesday so he'll be glad to have finished them first.
I had the hen night on Saturday, it was a strange affair. Future SIL was very quiet, but she wasn't drinking as she's pregnant. I think her and her friends tend to drink a bit when socialising so she feels a bit left out. It was quite an expensive night. only myself and future SIL weren't drinking, we both drank the jugged water. Yet the bill got split equally between us all (not the bride, we paid for her). I was the driver too and paid an extra £20 for everyone else's wine. I don't usually mind because most bills tend to even out. I didn't want to say anything because of the occasion, but I thought it was a bit inconsiderate of the others.
Anyway, not much going on today for me. I'm going to clean the house.0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull, cloudy and overcast but dry start to the day here.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Lunch yesterday was delicious roast lamb, did all the trimmings with it and managed to keep half the meat for tomorrow nights' dinner, I will make a pot of gravy and re-heat the meat in it, there's some other veggies/yorkshires etc left, so will just need to prep a few more potatoes and carrots. Had planned that dinner tonight would be scampi, chips and peas for the menfolk and I would have omlette and salad, but I have nearly a whole carton of passata in the fridge and if I don't use it tonight it will get thrown away - so have decided that I will stop off and buy a carton of low fat creme fraiche on the way home tonight (no de-tour required as have to go straight past 2 SM's to get home) I will then use this to make a creamy tomato sauce for pasta that I will then put chorizo sausage, smoked sausage, mushrooms and peppers etc into - will grate some cheese over the top for those that want it. Have some fresh strawberries and cream in the fridge - that can be dessert or there's HM choc chip cookies, HM choc brownies, or HM twinks in the tins or yogurts/desserts in the fridge - so plenty of choice.
Visited both dads' yesterday with cards and prezzies, then dropped DS1 off at his last revision lesson before his last exam today - he has his end of school assembly early this afternoon then he will be done at school! Makes me feel old!
Back to work today for me, it's likely to be a manic Monday as I know we have at least 1 colleague is off on hols so if anyone else goes sick/off it really means staffing is tight hope the day is busy but not so hectic its a hard slog. Seem to have got a summer cold from somewhere - have a really stuffy nose and funny throat - I'm taking high dose vitamin c to see it off though.
Managed yesterday to get the house semi-sorted and the items we didn't sell at the yard sale are now back in either the loft or away in cupboards etc so house is now much tidier.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning All
Urrgh its Monday
:rotfl:
Had a nice weekend, worked lots but went to Chinatown yesterday for OH's Fathers Day treat, very nice it was too.
Today am in the office all morning then off to my second job this afternoon, finishing at 6 ish so OH will cook dinner as he has no work today, think it will be something simple like spag bol.
Overcast here at the moment, they keep changing the forcast but I think we are in for a lot of rain this week.
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning all,
Weather is a bit dull here, not sure it will brighten up later on, I am off to work so it can do what it likes
Managed to have a good sort through all the 'stuff' we have saved in the loft room, we have sorted it into a load for the boot sale and chucked a few bits out, my study is now half full we are doing a boot sale Sunday, weather dependent and another one the week after, anything not sold will then be given to the charity shop. We really need to sort the loft next too but that can wait a few weeks.
Something with chicken breasts for dinner, will have a think about what to do with them during the day.
House is not too bad, will have a quick clean through and do an online shop when I get in.
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning,
Back to normal today. Weather forecast was good on Countryfile last night but its still very overcast.
Dh has a couple of visits today, shall go with him as we will save petrol and do some food shopping whilst we are out.
We recorded the Returned last night as we were both too tired to concentrate.
Already stripped our bed ready for washing once I've bought some powder.
Ds3 is doing a week of work experience this week at a large famous hotel in Manchester. Nothing to do with what he wants to do in real life but you never know he may get a part time job out of it. I've told him to be very positive and can do:eek: we shall see.
Tea tonight will be salad out of the garden and one of our own grated carrots. I love it when the veg is ready:D
Shall continue with my job search this week. I'm getting lots of practice on application forms!
Enough waffle, have a good day all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
