  • I only ever put my mobile number and don't receive cold callers, I am careful with the tick boxes though. I have received a couple of random texts but they could be from anywhere really.

some companies contact you by phone (not many though) and if you'e careful with the tick boxes you shouldn't get too many spam calls (emails are another thing though)

I add mainly the land line number & get very few calls that are spammy.I have registered with the TPS so maybe that helps?

If you happen to have an old mobile phone laying around in a drawer, you could put a PAYG sim card in and use that. If, like me, you work during the day, you can leave it at home and if you should win a prize, then the person will hopefully leave a voicemail message.

I always put my phone number when it asks for it. As others have said, watch the boxes. Since I have joined, I've only ever had one call and he was saying I'd opted to speak to someone about their wine lol. So I must have missed that box!!

I only put my mobile. If i do get any cold callers i just add them to my reject list. Haven't had many and think they were from some insurance site and not from doing comps.

I put both my numbers if asked on the forms,
make sure you're registered with the TPS

    http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html

& use a moby specially for comps :)

it could affect your chance of winning as some sites contact you with a WTC to let you know you've won,
have had quite a few of those in my time comping :j
so it's always best IMHO to make sure if it's required to add your number x

there's also advice given in the Comping Guide here re
what to do tele: numbers IIH x

I've had a few winning phone calls to my mobile number.
If you put a fake phone number then they may assume it's a duff entry and draw another person, especially if it's a win like a concert that could be quite shortdated.

I bet you get more PPI spam calls than from any other company, though I think it was Weatherseal who were very persisitent when I entered one of their comps, so it can happen that a company keeps ringing and ringing.

The really spammy companies are generally barred from MSE comps.

I'm another one who's got an old mobile I basically use just for comping. Having said that, with my (admittedly infrequent) wins I've never had a phone call, it's always been letter, email or the prize just turning up on the doorstep without warning.
