People favouriting your tweets

hi all
i get the odd email to say some one has favourited my competition tweet.
for example i tweeted the below comp
I want to win the @hooliganfilm on DVD @Flavourmag ! #FlavourmagComp RT to enter 03:22 PM - 19 May 13

it was favourited by
WhiteCollarHooligan @hooliganfilm Official twitter page for The Rise and Fall of a White Collar Hooligan. Sequel White Collar Hooligan 2 released May 2013. Written & Directed by @paultanter

Any idea what this is and why people favoutie your tweet. is this a way of saying youve won? or is it just random people deciding to favourite the tweet.

thanks

I have sometimes read tweets on people's timelines and thought to myself "that looks a good competition, I will favourite it and have a look at it later, when I have more time."

I do it like someone said above - if I like the look of the competition but dont have time to look at it yet.

Someone did it to me the other day, and it was a bot program, favouriting anyone using the word blackberry, which was slightly odd.. but nevermind.

Some companies favourite all competition entries, and pick winners randomly that way. (effort types)

I also do it if I spot a fellow comper, but as were restricted to following 2000 people, I favourite a tweet then later add them to a list, so I can watch their tweets that way, increasing my chances of finding competitions I have missed.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, xx Good luck.
    Wishing you all good luck!

I had the same one with one of my posts- in this case I think they were trying to get interest in the film...
  • I understand the logic of companies and other compers favouriting my tweets, but I keep getting very random people favouriting my comp entry posts at the moment....I am wondering if they think they can win that way?!?

Possibly. I sometimes get random people retweeting tweets that I have done for example sharing the mag daillies, or retweeting my rafflecopter tweets and I reckon they think they are entering this way. I used to tweet them to put them right, but most of the time now, I don't bother.

I think its a new way of spamming as I'm getting random accounts from around the world doing it. Instead of sending a tweet with a link, some people will be curious enough to look at the profile and then click on the spammy link to their "website"
