O/S daily Wednesday 8th May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

The sun has abandoned us for blustery rain. Maybe we have just had summer.

Usual dashed visit getting ready for work.

Not much going on but am still desperately trying to make some money and save some by any means possible. Have enough in the freezer for the remainder of the month, just need to buy vegetables, bread, milk and any other little bits and pieces.

More ebay listing tonight and some batch cooking of brisket strips and mince as meal bases.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Very wet here this morning,

Its been raining hard and heavy most of the night, I'm surprised that we have not had any Thunder and lighting, The temp has gone down quite a lot,

Not a bad'd nights sleep, For me, Half In bed and half In my chair, But It was restful sleep In my chair, Not just dozing, Comes to something when spending half the night asleep In a chair a goods nights sleep! Still its better than being awake,

Not much on for me today, Its Wednesday so my wife's not at work today, So she will be about the house,

I still have not got the pea nets up! Will not bother even thinking about it today due to them damp weather, But the nets really is the only Job that I know need to get done before I go Into Hospital, All my other Garden Job that I wonted sorted are now done:j:j So I'm pleased with that, Anything else Outside Is just normal going alone stuff, Or any extra things that I decided to do.

I'm Hoping that I might hear off the Hospital this week, You never know my luck, Just a letter with a date will do,
    We shall see.

Well I hope that everyone has a good day, And that you get Sun and not rain like we are due here,

    Enjoy :j:j

Good Morning everyone another day,but not so bright as yesterday.School run with my pickle of a grandson Mikey, bless him he always brightens my day up with his big gappy grin and his 'Hi Ya Gran,' and his frantic morning hug :):)Then after Dropping him off at school I will come home to have a go at Mount Ironing, but I don't mind that as I can watch some catch-up t.v. at the same time.I'll walk DDs dogs at lunchtime for a quick constitutional(or just let them into the garden if its raining :):))Then home againuntil 3.30 when the school run starts all over again.I actually worked it out the other day I have done more school runs with my grandchildren than I ever did with my own:):):) but then, they used to bus to school.
My eldest DD is coming tonight for a chat and coffee and biscuits, good job I knocked up several dozen last night. She loves my "555's" which are
    5 ozs caster sugar,
5ozs stork creamed together with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract mixed in
then 5 ozs sifted SR flour added.all mixed up together, then a small round dollop about the size of an old syle penny put on greased trays and flattened out so qiute thin and chucked into the oven for 10-12 minutes.Just turning light gold brought out and left for a couple of minutes to crisp up then stashed in a lock 'n'lock box. This recipe makes around36-40 small crispy biscuits and cost buttons to make.I have been making them for years and she adores them.I like them flavoured with cinnamon or mixed spice but she only likes them as they are.Shes quite a cheap date :):):)
If I have time after the ironing this morning I may make a Victoria sponge cake for the boys for after school as that fills them up and as a mid-week treat costs very little to make.
Tomorrow is Assension day so Mikey has a half day off I am hoping the weather is nice and will take him probably to the country park if it is for a picnic. Our local Riverside Park is very nice at this time of the year and he loves it down there
Today is looking decidely grey ay the moment with thick mist over by the river so its hard to see from my window.I can usually tell what sort of weather it will be by how far I can see across the River medway ,at the moment I can barely see it at all so that doesn't bode well for today.
well time to get a wriggle on and have some breakfast and a shower and be out of the door in half an hour :):)Hope everyone has a good day the week is whizzing by isn't it
    Take care all

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Cloudy, dull and dreich here, but no rain ....yet!

Dinner last night was sausages, mash, carrots, broccolli, peas and onion gravy, ice creams for those that had room. Tonight we will be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Work wasn't anywhere near as busy as I thought it would be, but the weather was absolutely glorious until the afternoon when it started clouding over, so today may be a different story! Only working until lunchtime today and then have all my normal chores, and of course, need to get organised for going away at the weekend, so have quite a pile of ironing to do as I managed to get it all done Monday and yesterday as I got it all dried on the line before the forecasted rain arrives!

My friend may come over for coffee after school tonight - haven't seen her for ages, so I'm sure we'll have some catching up to do!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all.

jools big hugs to you. I understand nurses guilt too but you have to ignore it. It's not real.

Rubbish weather here today. I'm off work so will declutter the 'Potter' cupboard. We keep storage boxes with paperwork under the stairs so I'll shred older stuff and tidy the rest.

I've got chicken for dinner, I'm trying to decide whether to do tandoori wraps or teriyaki chicken. Whichever we have tonight, well have the other one tomorrow.

I'm confused by the Bank Holiday. I keep thinking it's Tuesday, I'm going to be even more confused by Friday because they've unexpectedly given me the day off work.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Morning all,

Very overcast here as well, feels cooler although haven't popped my head out yet.
Dh off to work early, possible meeting for a new contract and two jobs came in from the Internet yesterday, new advertising for us. :T let's hope its going to do really well and we can drop some of the costly newspaper advertising.
Still waiting for the hospital to ring with a date for my leg, also waiting for a date for our new boiler to be fitted. Hopefully the phone will ring today.
I will do some more ebaying today and then Ww later. I've really struggled this week, so hope I haven't done too much damage.
Good news about the women in Washington being found:T the news seems to be full of cruel awful men at the moment:(
Enough waffle shall put the kettle on. Enjoy your day x
