Tuesday 9th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important
Morning,
Please with my self yesterday, managed all things on least and even squeezed a run in aswell

Need to source windscreen wipers, engine oil, gearbox oil, rear shock absorbers and a link for the anti-roll bar for a Mazda RX8 (one of the least moneysaving friendly cars).
Then get quotes for labour for the above.0 -
Morning folks
Thanks to bt1 for starting the thread this morning
Ziggy - I can heartily recommend Liverpool......almost everything is walkable and there are plenty of chain pubs with cheap food
Well, day 3 of our mini break. On today's agenda- Checked online banking
- Need to withdraw £10 to top up my daily allowance
- Need to buy a lottery ticket but will use 5p coins and small change
- I think today we are planning on taking a ferry across the Mersey
- Had a long hot shower as I'm not paying the water or electric bill
- Charging ipad and mobiles in the hotel room
- Off out for a nice curry tonight.....it won't be a budget friendly meal but it is a treat and it won't be more than £20 each (I think)
- Will go for a healthy breakfast of porridge and toast
That's my lot for today
Have a great day all

Wow, there are so many newbies now I thought I ought to show my face. I've been reading everyday but not getting around to writing anything down.

DFW things so far today:- Breakfast from stores
- Made packed lunch for work
- Fed and watered the chickens
- Checked banking
- Moved money from savings into main account to cover car tax
- Renewed car tax online ready for end of month so I don't get fined

- Get a lift to and from work with a colleague
- Drink free coffee/water at work
- Try to ignore the bakery at elevenses time
- Read at lunchtime to avoid the shops
- Drop some flyers into the two new clothes shops that have opened recently
- Dinner from stores - rubber chicken for me too!
- Possibly do some quilting tonight as I won't get chance tomorrow
- Keep heating at a minimum and light a fire using scavenged wood
- Have an NSD
Just my usual stuff really. I need to do a 'fiscal fast' this month as DH's temp work has fizzled out at the moment so absolutely no extra spending will be allowed! Perhaps next week...

watched "our girl" last night - very inspirational.
Quick question, if I want to subscribe to a thread, how do I do it? I can't figure it outI want to be a writer0 -
Well I wanted to have a NSD but because of exceptional circumstances that's not going to happen as I bought £4 worth of newspapers this morning.
I didn't get to sleep until very late last night but managed to wake up with enough time to eat breakfast at home and make my lunch to take in. Also resisted the temptation to just call a cab and walked to the station. Train was absolutely rammed but free as I bought a pass at the end of last month.
Will buy myself a bottle of wine on the way home tonight and I have a readymade 'toad in the hole' to eat from the freezer
Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.0 -
