Hello!
Basically need to find a London central museum that has a cafe with food (not just snacks, but lunch etc). Trick is it needs to be near to an fully wheelchair accessible tube station if possible, or on an easy suitable bus journey from Kings Cross Overground/Underground.
Looking at tube maps there seems to be two types, semi and fully, as in step free to train and step free to station. the last presumably means a step onto the train, so we'd look to avoid the semi, and just use fully (if possible!) Station needs to be close by as it's chair user, and mobility limited people on it.
Does anyone have any ideas? Preferably a museum with interest, so the bigger ones, transport, national, science etc.
Thank you for all the help! going in a couple of weekends so starting to pull my hair out in finding one place :rotfl:

The British Library is next door to Kings Cross, fully wheelchair accessible, has both a caf! and a posh restaurant and has a fair amount of exhibitions going on, both permanent and temporary, that would certainly keep you occupied for an hour or so. And there's the Wellcome Institute opposite

There's not really enough at the library to grab peoples want to go there. We might have a 2yr old with us as well, so would want some where that at least he'd find interest with.
I've managed to come up with the planetarium which can be gained by tube from Kings cross to London Bridge then to Canary Wharf and along to Cutty Sark stop, but we might taxi direct from Canary Wharf.
Was looking at the three at the Science museum, but those would be a taxi job, or a long bus ride and trundle after. As we're only there for a few hours, would hate to spend the chunk of it travelling in congestion!0 -
If you're thinking of getting a cab you could just go the short drive up to the British Museum, which has plenty to entertain all ages and the catering you require http://www.britishmuseum.org/visiting/eating.aspx0

The planetarium is at the top of a massive hill, so I think the taxi will be needed. Nearer the station and at the bottom of the hill is the National Maritime Museum and Cutty Sark (3 wheel chair spaces per hour) both well worth a visit. Both have cafe or there is 16 Seconds West Brasserie.
Also if you look at http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/14091.aspx and scroll down to step free tube guide there is a map detailing size of steps and gaps.0 -
The national portrait gallery in Trafalgar square is a museum full of old pictures. There is a cafe there with restuarants across the road in the same street as the Coliseum.:j0

Sorry to waste your time. If you'd mentioned a 2 year old, I would have made different suggestions.0 -

Oh no, it was a good suggestion, there's nothing more than I'd have liked to kill a few hrs in a place like that!
Hadn't actually realised I'd have to consider a 2yr old :A
Thank you for the suggestions! Going to head down and either look at the science museum area via taxi, or go for the planetarium, and thank you Amberbunny for letting us know about the hill, we'll definitely look at taxi'ing from Canary0
