Freedom finance - ran credit check without my permission!

Spoke to them and got a quote. I specifically said DO NOT DO A FULL CREDIT SEARCH.

They said its ok its only a soft search. OK, so we went through it all - they said got accepted for loan with Sainsburys. Again, I said DO NOT PROGRESS IT YET - I will get back to you.

Phoned them again today to say OK, please go ahead. Turns out a credit search was done on the day despite me saying please don't do it. Worse still even though they sent me an email saying I got accepted, they put me through to Sainsburys who told me I've been rejected!

Unhappy that FF put me through as a credit search despite me telling them not to without my permission.

Is there any way this can be removed from my record?

    How do you know that they've done a full credit search...? Have you checked your credit report to confirm that...?

    Why go via freedom finance ?

    What do you get if you go via FF than direct to Sainsburys ?

    Sainsburys rep they put me through to confirmed that FF has asked Sainsburys to progress the application and do a search.

    As a company director, its sometimes awkward to get a loan. Apply for a few and get turned down and its problematic because it affects your rating.

    FF touted it as apply for a loan as a soft search without a credit search on your record.

    I doubt it very much....in anyway you were prepared to go ahead with the application so the results would have been the same. A search as such will have little impact on your credit report.

    Not so sure. Searches in a short period do affect your credit rating....
    I've now got one that I didnt agree to.

    You were going to apply anyway.....what difference does it make. You would have been turned down in any circumstances. One search will have no impact whatsoever....
