Avoid driving in the centre of Oxford !!!

Options
They have messed up the road system and their signs are really unclear.

Anyone who doesn't know the place risks getting a £30 fine for straying into the wrong zone!

It sucks!!

    I couldnt agree more.

I recently got fined £30.00 for straying into the wrong Zone. Had no idea that it was a bus zone/loading unloading zone only.

    Driving in Oxford is awful!

Park and ride for me next time!

Was it Castle Street by any chance?

I was born in Oxford though moved away some 18 years or so ago.

I go back now and again to see family, but after one excursion through the City Center, especially where there was once a one way system that now goes both ways I have never driven there again.

Jeremy Clarkson has slated Oxford City Council for being so anti car. With good reason I think!

Yes Park End Street was ALWAYS one way!! And the parking cost was always extortionate!

I lived there for 20 years (till the mid 90s) and the road system had changed beyond all recognition when I went back last month!

It was VERY unclear in the Castle Street area that no vehicles were allowed through, and it was an area that you COULD drive through in those years I lived there.

The other restricted areas are clearly signed and easy to avoid straying into - but the Castle Street area is obviously a good money spinner for the always crazy Oxford County Council! Obviously they employ a good jobsworth at County Hall watching that camera:mad:

I did take my driving test in Oxford but took it round Headington/Cowley area which wasn't so complicated.

I feel sorry for tourists, it is a lovely place to visit but the (Labour) council are money grabbing c**ts for not making this area more clear to avoid!!
