Freezer crisis

Last night I discovered that my freezer had defrosted itself. Unfortunately I had recently stocked up on frozen dog food (blocks of raw beef, chicken, tripe, & lamb). Most of this had semi-defrosted. I quickly put it all into my other freezer and refroze it. Can anyone advise if it will be safe to give this to my dogs now? I would be giving it to them raw. I would really prefer not to bin it.
Thanks!

I often defrost the dogs' meat to pack in Kongs and refreeze, and I had a similar freezer incidence before. It wouldn't bother me unless the dogs had a compromised immune system, e.g. they were ill, elderly or had an immune related medical condition. Dogs have a short digestive tract with a strong acidic stomach and the common food poisoning bugs don't thrive in that environment.
I asked on a raw feeder forum when I first started, about partially defrosting a box of chicken carcasses to portion up and lots of people said they did it with no problems too.0 -
I thought you could NEVER freeze meat then defrost and refreeze? I wouldn't give it to my dogs.0

Maybe for us, but humans wouldn't really eat raw green tripe either! Dogs have the right digestive system to cope with raw meat as food passes through quickly and doesn't sit in the gut while bacteria multiplies. I believe studies have shown even commercially fed dogs shed salmonella spores in their faeces, but it passes through without affecting them.
I've done it before, would do it again, as have many other raw feeders. Having had one of my dogs thoroughly checked out healthwise last year for a behavioural issue, I have the medical evidence that it's done her no harm0 -
I think it would be fine - think about raw bones and how long some dogs keep them... then bury them, dig them up weeks later and enjoy them again!0

I'd feed it, lots of people let it defrost to put it in to portions and refreeze. I've only just started raw feeding but from what I have read it is quite comman for people to refreeze.0

I would also feed it, to a fit healthy dog. However of course if they showed signs of upset tummies after eating it I would then dispose of it.2 angels in heaven :A0

You don't get much tougher than a dog's stomach. Humans can be described as having cast iron ones, well, a healthy dog has something akin to supercharged unobtanium alloyed with dilithium. If they were Superman, they'd be eating Kryptonite cookies for tea.
Exaggeration and geekeration aside, I'm sure they'll be fine if they're healthy animals. These are animals who routinely eat other creatures' vomit, clean their bums with their tongues and bathe in fox poo.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
