Laminate flooring

I am having some laminate flooring laid in my son's bedroom. The room is approx 11 square metres and I have received a quote of £175 to lay QuickStep 800 flooring, underlay, door transition and beading (no skirting because I do not own the property and the landlord does not want the skirting touched). I have already bought all the materials so the quote is to lay it. Does £175 sound reasonable?

My prices for fitting laminate is as follows: For 11 sq mts, plus the scotia (beading) would be £120 for the laminate, and £1.50 per linear mtr for the scotia. The term 'Door transition' do you mean easing the door beacause of clearence for the floor ? If so that would be a further £15.0

Thanks for the response. The product is the Quickstep Laminate Incizo Profile, which you can see here (hopefully): http://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/accdetail.cfm?productID=470&type=laminate&cat=Maple Double Plank. I am having this profile installed because I intend to lay the same treatment in my hallway, living room and my bedroom. I have 6 (maybe 7) lengths of Scotia, each measuring 2.4ms. Based on your pricing, you would charge around £156 - £158 to lay this floor. I am based in London so it sounds as though the quote I have received is reasonable (that said, I have no idea where you are based!). I am getting a couple more quotes and will go for the one with the best reputation and price.
Thanks again.0 -

Hi Hallber,
As the gentleman above quotes, this seems a reasonble price for fitting the product in the London area. I quote at £10 a meter fitting, £1.50 per linea meter for the scotia £10 per door profile.
I have just set up a company in the South Yorkshire and North Notts Area called Floortopia.co.uk so as its grim up north and there is a north / south divide on pricing the quote seems reasonable. But I always admit shop around 1st0 -
in the midlands, i would charge £80-90 all in...no extra for bead or doorway. Only extra to charge would be if skirting was to be fitted, but as you said this is not the case.0

Can anyone recomend any fitters in the west midlands area? I'm in Stafford and have been getting silly quotes from the the people I've called.
I have around 16m2 of quick step laminate flooring and the cheapest quote so far has been £380! now this seems a little steep to me.

Garndt1, you're cheap! LOL Even here in West wales We charge around the £10 - £11 psm for laminate. No charge for scotia unless it's really awkward, and no charge for threashold strips, but £15 - £20 to trim a door.
Woody
Dean, if that is labour only it is far too expensive no matter where you are. Try calling a few local chippies and ask if they fit laminate.

I run a Property Maintenance Company and would base the cost on a days labour as this is about 3/4 of a day. £150 - £!60 would be realistic. I'm sure he will take an offer!Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
