How to advertise my small online business?

Hello I have just started up my first online busy. which is basically a buying and selling business so it's pretty simple but I am having trouble advertising it. I have made facebook and twitter profiles for my business which has brought in a few people but does anyone else know any other ways of bringing a lot of traffic to my site? I would love to here your experiences with advertising your online businesses as well.
Thanks :)

bengalknights points out a few good ones. Youtube is another possibility. What do you buy and sell, and is it something you need your own website for?

Do you plan to sell entirely through a website? I'm sure you have thought about it but eBay might be a good place to start, or at least advertise in a couple of places while the website gets going. Another idea to advertise it is to start a competition through your website to win one of your products. You could also do a like & share competition on facebook and that would really help spread the word around- BUT i hear there are very specific rules about using facebook for competitions so please do your research.

Can you PM me your website? (or post it here if you're allowed, i'm fairly new myself so not sure). I'd like to take a look and see if I can come up with any more suggestions.

I do currently have an ebay account up and running but I am only able to list 100 products a month which is quite limiting. And I hope things to get quite serious with my business. I am in the process of doing competitions and that is working quite well for facebook and twitter but i just need to get more likes and followers i guess :) Yeah i can post my website and facebook and twitter account if you wanted :)

Just to advise, its sounds like you are using a personal ebay account (100 items per month) when you should register for a business account. Ebay may well catch up with you at some point so may be worth upgrading, or better still open another account for the business as having selling and buying accounts has it's advantages.

Wishing the best for your venture

I agree with paulofessex it sounds like you haven't upgraded your eBay account to a business account.

Even upgrading to a business account usually leaves you at 100 items per month for a long time. Had to wait about 6 months of being a verified business account with top rated powerseller status before they actually lifted the 100 per month limit for me.
