Back of the Sofa Challenge

Hi folks,

Spring is in the air and that can only mean one thing - spring cleaning.

So it's the perfect time to try our 'Back of the Sofa Challenge' - not only might there be cash lurking in your sofa but in winter coats, old bags, car seats, trouser pockets and more.

We'd love to know what you find and what you do with the money, especially if you've profited selling hidden discoveries.

Happy rummaging! :)

MSE Sally

There's nothing down the back of my sofas. I [STRIKE]the cleaner[/STRIKE] take the cushions off and hoover under them every week. You slovenly lot :D

£8.61 so far this year - not just in the sofa, but on the street too - it's amazing what people drop! Sounds cheesy, but it all goes towards the local Christmas appeal for gifts for disadvantaged children.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

I put on a jacket I've not worn since before Christmas and found £20 in one pocket....bonus! Then put my hand in the other pocket and found another?! Not sure where they came from or how I missed them but £20 swiftly got invested in resale stock and the other went into the bank!

I took the bottom fabric panel off our Chesterfield the other week, to repair the casters and found my wife's D&G watch that had been lost for over a year! That and half a jigsaw, various kids toys, playing cards, books, straws and some rather manky biscuits. :( Kids....
  • I found £100 in an ocassionally used handbag I took to a conference and two weeks later £60 in an old purse. I have a habit of putting cash 'somewhere safe' instead of carrying it around.
  • I found 100 canadian dollars in an anorak, from a couple of years ago - wish I could afford the flight again!

I drive an old 1969 Mini which I rarely take out of the Garage.

For some reason I decided to check the bucket seats in it about 3 weeks ago and found £27 across two seats that had fallen out of pockets and through small rips in the corner of the seats.

I then checked under the mats in another car and under the seats and found a further £5. Not a bad days findings
  • We recently moved my Boyfriend and some of his stuff into my place and found a total of £57 in change around his flat, which pretty much covered the van hire for the day.
I still find loose change now on his side of the bedroom or sofa but that soon finds it's way into my piggy bank for a rainy day. He doesn't even notice ;0)

2 biros (that did not work), 3p, a fluffy chocolate (ooh yum!) and a memory stick that I had long since given up finding and restarted the work on another one.
