Help! Posting aerosol by Royal Mail/other services?

Help please, any experienced eBay sellers out there!

I've been decluttering my shelves in preparation for a move abroad, and I'm a serial cosmetics buyer-and-then-not-user. I put a load of stuff on eBay last night, but the thought suddenly struck me this morning - one of the items is a new 200ml aerosol can of FakeBake self-tan...! A quick google search confirmed what I feared - that you can't post aerosols above 50ml by Royal Mail. :( Unfortunately, there's already 2 bids on it (it's a bargain), so I can't remove the listing.

Does anyone please have any ideas about what I could do? Has anyone posted any aerosols using Royal Mail before and got any experience of success/unsuccess to share? I suppose I could send it by courier but I just don't know how much that would cost (the postage cost I'm charging to buyers for that item is only £2.10 and I'm guessing that won't cover a courier's rates!) I guess another option is to change postage to pick-up only, but again - I guess I can't do that when the auction's already got bids on it....

Any advice most welcome!! Thank you

I don't think any carriers will allow you to send aerosols. A quick look, at my hermes & collect + both prohibit them.
You may have to cancel the auction & relist for collection only.
There's an awful lot of them for sale on ebay being posted by RM, I wouldn't want to post or buy anything like that, it's prohibited for a reason.
  • Yeah that's what I thought - I'm sure a lot of people do use Royal Mail for it, but as you say, the restriction is in place for a reason, and it's just not worth the risk!

Ok then, perhaps I should end the auction and re-list with a collection-only postage option - I'm not sure of the etiquette surrounding ending auctions where there are already bidders though? I suppose I could message them each individually (luckily only 2 so far) and just explain the problem? :/ I'd be a bit annoyed if it was me, but then it is a legitmate reason to end an auction...

Any advice on that anyone? Thank you!
