James,
I would like you to please explain something for the gang and I.
Credit Expert calculates my "Score" as 848 today.
I've been registered to vote at my current address for four months.
I have 44 accounts, 7 of which are active.
Six of these 44 accounts are satisfied defaults.
My oldest active account is two years old.
My oldest account is just under seven years old.
My credit utilization shows as 23%
Two credit searches in the last six months.
I also have a bankruptcy order from just under four years ago appearing under the public information section of my report.
I have not missed any payments on credit in nearly four years and have a perfect history for that time but in the two years prior my repayment history was awful. My credit report reflects that fact.
Credit Expert calculates my mother's "Score" as 847 today.
She has been on the ER at her current address for 23 years.
She has no defaults.
She has no public information.
She has 26 accounts, 8 of which are active.
Her oldest active account is 13 years old.
Her oldest account still on her report is 28 years old (TSB Trustcard)
She has no history of missed payments whatsoever.
She has no history of "Special indication markers" whatsoever.
Her credit utilization shows as 40%
Three credit searches in the last six months.
So can you please enlighten me, why, pray, is her "Score" lower than mine?
Oh, and check this out: (this is from my report, not mother's)

Notice something odd?
Credit Expert doesn't flag the presence of a discharged bankruptcy order as a negative factor.
:rotfl:
(If anyone wants to pass comment about the balances I owe, you're right, they are too high. I spent a lot of money on getting myself a driving license, car, and qualifications over the last 18 months, however I have now, as a result, secured a job paying £5,500 a year more and have just this week paid off, closed, and settled three accounts).

I say Izools it would be intresting to know what excuse they come up with lol.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I'll have a look at this a little later for you.

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I'm sure you will, and should. However with nearly 20 years of experience at Experian, im sure you'll come up with something.
There are a few of us on here that'd be very interested to read your response to Izools, so if you'd be kind enough to post your response to the query, then that'd be just great.
As Head of Consumer Affairs i have no doubt your motto at Experian is "Knowledge is power"0 -
Um... is it just me or are you trying to compare apples with oranges here?0

I find the scores strange in general. With a satisfied IVA, 11 satisfied defaults I still come up with a scroe of 900. For the life of me I could not get any decent credit though. Not even a mobile! All IVA's and defaults have now dropped off and the score is 998. I tend to think the scores a waste of time and money making gimmick.0

It's not a case of coming up with something or presenting excuses - we can look at our scorecard!

The scores are garbage, but I think people here know that."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

James for nearly £15, people deserve accurate information.
It's clear you're not supplying that. You have obviously read the "newbie" threads on here - "i've bought my experian report and i've got a score of 999, however i've been refused a CC from ???. Why is this? My Score is the highest you can get, surely this is wrong"
You're luring people in to think they've got great credit, and so they keep subscribing to watch a figure go up and down every month or so.

IMHO the score only matters to the user and Experian. Lenders use their own lending criteria.0

So if the score cards are not acurate, its missold and these people should be given their money back as its a false score.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
