Hi guys,
I've read a LOT about a parking fine company called G24 and have heard mixed responses from others, some of whom say you should pay the fine and others who say G24 can't do anything to make you pay.
I was wondering what on earth to do
I just received the following letter through the post. Do i pay, or not?
"On 10th July 2011, a parking charge notice was placed on your vehicle: _______, make: _____ colour: _____. According to DVLA records, you were the registered keeper of the vehicle at this time.
The contractual parking charge notice was issued for breach of contractual terms and conditions at Argos,________ by exceeded permitted parking time.
As this contractual parking charge notice has remained unpaid for 14 days, it is no longer possible to pay the contractual parking charge notice at the reduced amount. A final notice will be sent within 28 days of this letter.
G24 Ltd is the parking operator at this car park and has requested details from the DVLA, you were the registered keeper of the vehicle at the time of breach of contractual terms and conditions. If there is any change in driver details, supply these details to: G24 Ltd at Appeals Department, PO Box 3320, Gerrards Cross, Bucks, SL9 8WT.
If you believe that your personal data has been used inappropriately, you may wish to raise your concerns with the DVLA or the Information Commissioner."
What do i doooo?

Would this affect my credit ratings?!

Just put it in the bin and ignore these scammers from now on. It will have nothing to do with your credit rating, it's just a scam designed to catch out suckers.0

These guys are chancers. If you refuse to identify the driver there is sod all they can do.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I've put this notice on the dashboard of my car, which has as much force of law as the parking company notice.
"By admitting this vehicle to your car park, you are accepting that you are responsible for the care and safety of the vehicle, and that you will reimburse the owner of the vehicle should he decide to make a claim from you for whatever reason and for whatever amount. By admitting this vehicle, you are also agreeing that you will make no lien or charge on the said vehicle or its owner.""There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Ignore the clowns
For it to affect your credit rating the following must happen:
1 - They take you to court
2 - They win
3 - You refuse to pay what the judge orders within 28 days
The landowner can only sue for damages endured by trespass, which in the majority of cases is zero (if it's a free car-park).0 -
Thank you all for the responses. Much appreciated. Can sleep without stressing about this. It's really annoying because its an Argos carpark, literally right behind argos, with no parking meters or anything at all and I was "over the time limit" by literally 5 minutes
But thank you all and LOL at poppasmurf_bewdley for the notice on your dashboard. haha. its a good ideaEntrepreneur in the makingGot low-cost marketing/ Free PR ideas? Share them

We have had a similar letter this morning. I didn't want to speak to G24 as it's a scum of the earth kind of company and I have very little respect for outfits like that. Instead I thought I would complain to Freeport (Braintree, Essex) themselves. It's very poor customer relations to tell shoppers at their shopping complex that they have to pay £95 for parking there an additional 18 minutes over the 360 minutes allowed. Does anyone EVER read the parking contract fully anyway??? No.
Anyway, to cut a long story short. When I complained the woman who answered the phone was very quick to say that if we sent a receipt of £10 or more to prove that we were shopping at Freeport, then they would cancel the parking charge.
I have to say, shopping at Freeport now seems less appealing. In fact, I'm probably going to boycott it entirely. What a waste of my life dealing with this ridiculous problem.
As for G24... well, I hope I never see their company name again.0
