Impressed by how much I have saved

I've been sorting my finances out in the last few days and already saved hundreds.
I've swapped gas & electricity suppliers from British Gas to Eon and according to uswitch will save around £500. Even if they follows suit and hike prices up it will still be much cheaper than BG.
I had my car insurance renewal through in the last few days and Direct Line were bumping my car insurance up to £618 + £129.50 breakdown cover. I have swapped to Priviledge with insurance of £450 and to GreenAssist for breakdown cover of £28.80 so a saving of roughly £270 for the same level of cover.
I'm looking into the insurance protections on my mortgage and a 0% balance transfer so more to save. Hopefully then I can start reducing my overdraft as a result.
The next big thing is to find alternative childcare for my son. His nursery are bumping their fees to £43 a day

Hi lou
You might be able to make even more savings on your energy bills by cutting back on the amount you use. We can help with this.
Give our Energy Efficiency team a call. Tell them about your property, heating and appliances. They specialise in helping people reduce their ongoing usage.
Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful advice to help you cut back.
Check out our website, too; particularly the Interactive House, Free Energy Survey and Energy Fit campaign. More good tips here.
Hope this is useful lou. Give me a shout if you need any more info as happy to help.

Thanks for that. I will have a look online. Although I was a bit miffed that as soon as I signed up to eon they announce price hikes. It was expected though I guess.0

Hi Lou - last year my daughter attended private day nursery (aged 1) for just shy of £35 a day. Having moved house this was no longer an option due to living too far away so when I continue my studies in September my daughter, now 2 years old will be going to an Ofsted registered childminder's who lives on my road which is CONSIDERABLY cheaper - also do not have to pay for days she does not attend unlike nursery where the place must be kept open at all times. Not sure if your nursery has the same rules but however good my daughter's was it was way too much money, never realized childminders was so much cheaper! Hope this helps and makes sense - it's my first post!0

I have just signed up with a registered childminder and she charges £36 a day. Cheaper than the nurseries and surprisingly the cheapest childminder in the area (although just as good). Other childminders I saw were charging towards the £40 mark:eek:.0
