Scammed by Gigsport

just received a letter from insolvency practitioners informing us that they have been instructed to place gigsport.com into liquidation and to claim our ticket fees back from the bank.
How do we stop this happening to anyone else - ever!!
Subsequent research shows that the Fraud squad made arrests in august 2010 and yet the site is still live.
Can this site be shut down?

Hi
Are you sure that this is a scam? If so then I've been hit with it too and I'm currently trying to speak to the National Fraud Authority about this.0 -
i got the same letter from the insolvency practitioners (Panos Eliades, Franklin & Co). I have just spoken to my bank and they are going to send some forms for me to complete and then they'll investigate.
nightmare!!!!0 -
Thank goodness this website has finally been shut down. Hopefully that will be an end to it. Don't know why it's taken so long as there were arrests made in August and they have still been trading (and scamming people) since then.0

What forms are your bank going to send you? I spoke to mine and they said that because I didn't pay on a credit card I'm not covered but that's before I found out this was fraud. I've contacted the NFA, I'd suggest that everyone else does too so they have a bigger case against these <SWEAR WORD> so they can lock them up and throw away the key. Or most likely, give then a couple of hours community service0

1'm not sure what forms they are sending; when the come through (2-3days) i will repost. I paid on my debit card anbd bank with Natwest...
The letter i recieved from their insolvency practitioners says if you dont get any joy with the bank write to the insolvency practitioners, which although may take longer to get a refund as you'll be in a "queue" of creditors.
good luck with it!!0 -
confident it's a scam. 4 arrested last august from gigsport by fraud squad don't see how this site continued trading and catching us out. my letter is also from panos eliades frnaklin and co
faxing all details to bank tomorrow to claim a refund on mastercard and i suppose will also then be sent some forms to complete
great suggestion that we all report this to the fraud squad to build thier case
good luck to everyone with your claims and please report0 -
This may sound like a silly question but does anyone know if the tickets were ever allocated to Gig Sport by the organisers? If so will they become available for sale again? Surely companies can't just sell tickets that they haven't been allocated??0

I've been in to my bank who told me that as I used a VISA debit card and not a credit card, I can't claim a refund.
I've since been doing some research on the internet and there is a scheme called Visa Debit Chargeback whereby VISA can claim the payment back from the receiving bank. Apparently 99% of bank staff don't know of it's existence so you have to really push it to escalate your way up to someone who knows something about it. It has been featured on 'Working Lunch' and you can google cases to use as ammunition. A lot of people have managed to get refunds for failed airlines, goods ordered and companies gone into liquidation etc., and quite quickly after applying. It's a bit hazy whether or not I can claim because I paid for my tickets back in November for a Take That concert in June and there is a 120 day deadline, but I have seen blogs where some people have been told they cant claim until after the event, so not sure but maybe worth a try.0 -
looks like
gigsport
has already started up again.
this time as
tickets2allevents
google it as I can't post links.0 -
UPDATE!!! - We have been reimbursed by Natwest for the full amount - no hassle at all. i simply sent back their letter and within 2 weeks the money was back in my account... p.s. i paid for the tickets using a Visa DEBIT card so there may be hope for those who didnt use a credit card. good luck!!!!0
