Hi, All i can say is 'best of luck' to anyone wanting to leave talk talk!!! we have had the worst experience ever....
Basically we decided to leave talktalk after getting a better offer from Sky, so we cancelled with talktalk an awaited our final bill,
we left them on the 6th Dec but were billed from the 4th Dec to 4th Jan!? so i contacted them asking why am i paying for a service that i wouldnt be getting only to be told that i should pay up and it will be credited back, in my mind this is not right so refused to pay and asked them to send me a final bill then i would pay the full amount we then recieved a bill for £78 again not the correct amount as this still included the line rental for 6th Dec to 6th Jan, phoned them again .... got another bill this time for £58 which was the correct amount but a final demand!! ok this was a bit strange as have never received a correct final bill again spoke to customer service who informed me that a bill would be sent out and it would take 11 days this was on the 17th Jan so i was expecting the bill around the 28th Jan. Nothing has been sent out....
I have received in the post today a letter from a debt collection agency - basically talktalk have claimed that we havent paid our bill and passed it on even though i have contacted them requesting bills many times, (as in the final demand ) i contacted them within 7 days etc, - in my experience talktalk customer service is the worst that i have ever come across, no-one is able to help, i have been told that their HQ dont have phones!!! which i had to laugh at as they are a phone company and they dont have any complaints dept!!! - all they want is the money and appear like they cant be bothered with you once you have signed up with another phone co.
i can only describe my experience in leaving talktalk as shocking.....

Your story is very similar to what happened when I closed my Talk Talk account. Despite instructing a specific cancellation day, I got an invoice for line rental running through to what would have been the end of the next billing period.
Now this was years ago (4 years ago, in fact). When I queried the bill I was indeed told something along the lines of "We can't guarantee BT will indeed cancel it on that day, and don't worry, you'll get the overpayment back".
Nonsense.
I worked out the correct figure as best I could and paid that.
We move home.
Eventually, I get letters from a debt collection agency for some small amount. When I looked into it, this was in fact comprised of non direct debit payment fees and a late fee. Actually, Talk Talk owed me a few pounds as I had still overpaid.
When you add the 2.50 non direct debit charge for the refund as I assume they wouldn't want me refunding myself from their account, overall, I ended up a few quid out of pocket and had to write to the DCA and tell them to shove off, which they did.0 -
Hello posytoes,
Firstly sorry to hear about the poor service received thus far. Your December bill would have been produced before you left us which is why it contained advanced charges, this is normal however what should have happened is that when you left on the 6th your account would be credited for the difference and a final bill produced containing any call charged upto the date you left along with a credit for the services you paid for but didn't use (Between the 7th Dec and 4th Jan).
You where right to be advised to make payment as per our T&C`s however you should have been clearly advised that the difference would be refunded once your account had been closed.
I am not sure who told you that our office doesn't have any phones, clearly not true, to be honest i dont know any office that doesn't have a phone. We also do have a complaints department, you can find details of how to contact them in the following link:
