MoneyBookers LTD - my money has been stolen!!!

I have just checked my bank account online and found out that I was robbed by company called MoneyBookers LTD, they took 400 pounds from my account yesterday and I am fuming and crying at once.
I had called my bank (HSBC) and they contacted Fraud department for me. Should get a call from them soon. I need to go to branch to change my security information.
They said everything will be fine and they will deal, and it looks that it is not my fault and they will try to get my money back.
I am just scared that they won't help me and I will be 400 down.
I need to pay rent this week and I need to live obviously :(
I am so scared to used internet now, i think i will do everything through branch.
Anyone got any experience with such things before??
Any chances I will get my money back?

Thanks for any piece of advice.
Lucy

moneybookers are a legitimate payment service, someone has stolen your details and used moneybookers to launder the money.

as an initial recommendation, get someone to wipe your computer and reinstall the OS and stick a decent antivirus on it

    Thanks for that!!!

I am installing a better antivirus now. Will deal with operation system as well as soon as possible.

Do you think they will refund me my money?
  • Moneybookers wont, they're targetted by scammers as is AlertPay because they're one way, it's hard to chargeback thru' them (but possible).

HSBC refunded me when my account was pillaged, it took several phone calls & chasing HSBC. Eventually they sent me a form to sign declaring it was not me, eventually they (MoneyBookers) provided sales certificates and IP addresses to HSBC and things went back to normal.

Be persistant, assertive and concise with HSBC - the Indian fraud squad... are mechanical and unwilling to listen to any sob story. Get a name and number if you can too for reference.

    FSA Rule BCOBS 5.1.11R says:

    (1) Where a banking customer denies having authorised a payment, it is for the firm to prove that the payment was authorised.
    (2) Where a payment from a banking customer's account was not authorised by the banking customer, a firm must, within a reasonable period, refund the amount of the unauthorised payment to the banking customer and, where applicable, restore the banking customer's account to the state it would have been in had the unauthorised payment not taken place.
So it looks like they must.

you should (at least attempt to) file a report with the police and pass it onto HSBC.

I asked yesterday if i should go and report it to the police, but they say that during the fraud investigation they will report it anyway.
I am just so confused, that my money is gone forever, however they have no evidence that i have authorised these payments.
I wasn't even at home at the time of transaction (it was done through my internet banking), i was on the bus on my way home and i have about 10 people to confirm that.
  • Don't worry you WILL get the money back.
