Confirmed by BG on phone that customers on essential tariff will get £50 credit. They will write to us

Our Essentials Programme offers a range of products, services and advice for our most vulnerable customers with different needs.
Around 340,000 customers on our Essentials discounted tariff will receive a £50 credit on their winter bill.
We have taken this step because we understand that things are difficult for many customers at the moment - particularly older and disabled customers on a very low income.
That is why we promised to hold prices for Essentials customers throughout the winter, and is why we are now offering this one-off payment of £50 to give our Essentials customers some extra help following the recent extremely cold weather.
Essentials customers can call to talk to us about the £50 credit, or any other enquiries they may have, by calling the freephone number: 0800 072 8625.

I phoned British Gas recently about any special tariffs they ran and they said they didn't do any. Is this Essential tariff closed to new applicants? I'm having trouble getting onto the British Gas website at the moment. Thanks for any help.0

The essentials tarriff is still open for any eligible person. I was told a letter would be sent out in the next 4 weeks to customers eligible for the £50 off your bill. I received my bill 2 days aho so asked them if I could have my £50 knocked off this bill but was told it would have to be off my April bill.

When I joined them 2 years ago you had to fit some eligibility ie low income or someone in the household with a disability and there was a time limit when you could join. They messed me around and then said I couldn't join, when I said I had rang them on such a date I had records proving I rang them they let me join0

Just signed up for the "Essentials" scheme, no problems :T:T0

I was told you had to be on the Essential tariff by 31st Dec 2010 in order to qualify for the £50 credit.
For those that have qualified will receive credit into their account on their winter or spring bill that depends on when your next bill is due. They are about 10% into processing the credit.Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.
Have you sold your soul to the devil?0 -
