Hello!
We're planning a bit of a trip round the UK in our vw camper
for our honeymoon and are looking for recommendations of campsites in the Lake District, Cairngorms and Snowdonia that are open during November - we're planning on roughly one week in each location.
I've looked at soooooooo many sites but I trust MSE'rs recommendations more than the online reviews!
We're also looking for recommendatons of places to visit, walks to do, and pubs that do great grub and accept dogs!
Can anyone help?!
Thankee

We've absolutely no idea!
We just decided we wanted to go to england, scotland and wales in three weeks and chose three general locations ... so all recommendations are welcome! 0 -

) but unfortunately they close on the 31st October  0 -
Beddgelert Forest is a great place for the wilderness camping you want( you must be mad to pick the 3 coldest bleakest places for your honeymoon) but at least youve got the dog HA!

good site with good all weather facilities ::: remember you will prob be driving off and on so you need a good site not just a field. etc open 365 too.
Beddgelert http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beddgelert is a small village in Snowdonia with a lot of history your not too far from the stunning Lleyn Peninsular in gods own back yard Based on the A4085 voted top 3 roads to drive in Wales from
Penrhyndeudraeth to Caernarfon places to visit and eat are varied but as we have kids and a wheelchair but the decent places will stay open through quiet the winter and there are some good food and beer houses around snowdon my two favorites are Black Boy Inn and Stones Bistro both in Caernarfon (thats a good 20 mins drive from BeddForest. I know your doing Scotland Lakes and Wales but try to fit in Lindesfarn just for the Honeymoon experience http://www.lindisfarne-mead.co.uk/
Good Luck with your wedding and your honey moon:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
Thanks greenface! Lindesfarn sounds fabulous - I wonder if I can persuade the other half to add it to the itinerary it's not far off our route is it :rotfl:all things considered!
All our friends think we're mad to go off in our campervan in November - but you are quite right the dog will be actively encouraged to sleep on the bed as an extra layer of warmth (we are fitting a space heater into the van before we go though!)
I had found Beddgelert in a previous search so i am v pleased you recommended it - it is now a definite:beer:.
Thank you so much for your help!

Castlerigg farm in Keswick is lovely especially if you have dogs. Last I knew there was no extra charge for dogs and a woodland walk right next door!0

Lady Margarets Park in Chirk Wrexham.
It is a Caravan Club Site but the best site we've been on, it's in the grounds of Chirk Castle. Great for dog walks.

Burrs Country Park again it's a Caravan Club Site but it's lovely & great for dog walks.
People seemed to use this on the way back from Scotland to break the journey.

Beddgelert is beautiful but I don't think I'd like to camp there in November.
Good Luck with your wedding and your honey moon.0
