maximum cash withdrawal allowed over counter?
Does anyone know the max cash amount you are allowed to withdraw from yr current a/c in Santander branch?

£500. If you need more they usually need 24/48 hours notice. It really depends what mood the SCM is in also.

and if i draw that amount out can I still get the £300 daily allowance out of the cash machine?

You can do yes. Unless the system is down like on Sunday. Just make sure you have some cash on you on sunday especially if you go to the supermarket. Or else you will starve and be unable to buy organic fennel.

My advice would be to go in to the branch with your ID and tell them that you want to close your account as they are the worst bank on the high street. Draw some money in cash and the rest as a cheque and start afresh with a real bank.
