This morning I registered on their website to order an electrical item. Filled in all the registration details correctly (using their address postcode lookup) and supplied my valid Visa Debit card information too.

Placed the order and received the email confirmation @ 0841. At 1002 I received an email saying that the order had been cancelled because of a security validation problem - no other explanation and certainly the specific reason not stated. The email also stated that my payment hadn't been taken. I immediately checked my account online (realtime) and it certainly had been taken (or reserved it would seem).

I called their online team and the drones read from a script stating that they aren't given the reason and suggested I try to order again. When I pointed out to them that the funds had been 'withdrawn' from my account I could not afford to use that debit card again.

Sometime later I logged on and amended my card details to use my other Visa Debit card account and placed another order. Not long after that I received an order confirmation email. Approx 2 hours later a cancellation email appeared for this second order. Same story, called them and they read from the script yet again...

After I returned home from work this evening I decided to log on to see if there was anything I had done wrong, as far as my details were concerned - couldn't log on... strange. I called their online team and was stunned to learn they had deactivated my account...

Both Visa Debit accounts I tried to use are in my name, registered at my home address and have been in operation for at least 15 years.

I've no idea why they did what they did and no one could tell me why - is that a way to run a business?

Take my advice, avoid Sainsburys online. Seemingly they don't want your business.

Let's hope someone senior from there reads this and wakes up.

What a nightmare did you manage to get a supervisor ?
I hope you get it sorted
"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.

Ask your bank, they will know why the transaction has not fully gone through.
