Anyone got an opinion on travel insurance from 'Big Blue Cover'? seems to be the cheapest thats being thrown up by the comparison sites but I've never heard of them before and couldn't find any reviews about them, travelling mid February for 3 weeks myself wife & baby and cheapest quote for the bare minimum has been £17.68 which seems pretty cheap!

Hi and thank-you for bringing Big Blue Cover to the attention of the forum. Big Blue Cover is a trading name of Rock Insurance Limited, which was established about 10 years ago.
Big Blue Cover uses White Horse as underwriters, it was recently brought to market to offer comprehensive travel insurance at affordable prices and is proving to be very popular.
If you need further details, please don't hesitate to call our lovely people in our call centre - 0844 482 9680, they are always happy to help...even Monday mornings!
Enjoy your holiday,

Bigblue you cannot post on MSE representing your own company without Authorisation from MSE, you also cannot promote your own business.
You are in effecting Spamming SPAM the forum which is a big no no.
For anyone reading this, Whitehorse Insurance have a very poor reputation for dealing with Travel Claims. I (and quite a few other members of MSE) would strongly advise you give any policy that is underwritten by White Horse the big swerve. I would particuarly recommend you avoid the Bronze and probably the Silver Cover as the policy cover is fairly low.
Bear in mind the Big Blue Policy applies the policy excess between £50 and £75 PER PERSON so if four of you claim for cancellation under the policy you will have £300 deducted from what you receive.0 -
White Horse are one of my biggest troubles - Any claim that I place with them is like trying to climb a brick wall without arms and legs!
White Horse is based in Ireland and therefore "beyond the reach" of the FSA and other UK consumer protection.
If I am correct they were based in the UK (I think Halifax) and went bust leaving a bunch of claims unpaid. That's why they shot over to Ireland and contrary to the spammer BigBlueCover (above) the 10 years experience includes the defunct company in UK! (My opinion going by the 100+ claims with White Horse). As a law abiding professional I cannot prove what I have said here because I would breach privacy laws (of my customers if I released specific cases) but I hope it is worth you bearing in mind before you buy from these pepole.C. The poster on this link is not very keen on White Horse http://www.canyoutrustthem.com/index.php?go=search&adv=yes&company_name=8770

I'd steer well clear of White Horse & any other guise they trade under these days, Big Blue Cover etc. I should have noticed it before getting a policy with them but the the small print they constantly refer to in their policy summary is nowhere to found on their website or confirmation email. I presume they just make it up as they go along when someone tries to make a claim. They should be shut down.0

I took out a policy with White Horse, lost my camera (without receipt) and they paid up, so a good experience for me. Howoever, I might just be one of the lucky ones. What was slightly strange is that when I called them up, I was under the Ryanair Insurance policy, despite not buying it from Ryaniar. Weird, but they paid out.
Also, not sure if this is the case with all insurers, but the phone number they provide is very expensive to call from abroad (and obviosuly you would be abroad id you buy travel insurance...)0 -

The "Summary of Cover" which is also known as "Key Facts" is an important document which should be available to you at the point of sale. This is under FSA regulations and basically gives an easy to read summary of the cover along with pointing out any major exclusions0
