in Credit cards
I am very cross with Asda, I applied for an Asda credit card on the 9th of April so I could transfer a balance from another card which had a zero percent deal ending at the end of April, plenty of time for a seamless interest free deal I thought, however Asda have not sent me a card and according to the phoneline you can not transfer a balance until you have recieved a card, I have requested 2 further cards which still have not arrived, their statement arrived no problems so clearly I am in the system. It costs 10p per minute to call the phoneline and takes 5 minutes just to get a human - all be it from India and barely legible, to answer the call. I feel like Asda are purposely witholding the card so I have to call and spend a fortune on the phoneline. So far it has cost me £50 in interest from the balance I want to transfer, before long I wont be able to get the interest free deal as it will be to late.
There is no e-mail address just a postal address and a phone line, so snail mail or spend a fortune talking to someone who does not speak English.
I really think they should be responsible for the expense this has caused me, I should not be paying interest on my balance, they agreed I could have the card but they will not send it to me, that £50 could have gone towards paying off the balance and getting myself out of debt, not on worthless interest.
Have you had problems getting hold of your cards and having to spend endless amounts of time on the phone rerequesting cards time and again?
Do you think there is somewhere I could complain to so they wll reimburse me the expense they have caused?
Is there another phoneline (free or atleast through to someone who can help me) or an e-mail address to them?

They could have just declined your application - I don't see how you can hold them responsible for interest you're paying on another card.
Have you actually attempted to write to them ?0 -
perhaps try saynoto0870.com and see if you can get a landline number from them that will be cheaper to call.0

Asda are not deliberately witholding the card to get call centre revenue, that is just stupid. Just say the phone call took 15 minutes - thats £1.50. Do you really think Asda are that desperate to make a few pence (don't forget that isn't pure profit - they have to pay the staff, pay for the facilities, pay for the number etc.).
If you are paying £50 in interest, does it really matter that you may have to pay a couple of pounds to sort it out?
020 8181 0000 is posted online. It's unverified though so I wouldn't personally call it (it could possibly be someone pretending to be Asda - unlikely but possible).0 -
The interest you pay your present lender is a red herring...0

Hi,
I can vouch for the 02081810000, i always use this number for all santander cards (Formerly GE) it is basically the number for calling from overseas and is printed on the reverse of your card.
Also if you do get through to an overseas call centre simply ask to be transfered to the UK, they have always complied with me without questions.
Hope this helps

Can I ask what particular job you currently hold with Asda Financial Services?
I would also suggest that they are actually that desperate for revenue since they have now switched to using an 09 phone number for credit card customer services costing a fixed £1.50 to call from a landline and a great deal more from a mobile phone.:mad:

They should all be using regular phone numbers so we can phone using our free calls packages.
Same with councils, utilities and all other suppliers, they are all just conning the customer and getting away with it.0
