Gumtree sellers beware - Paypal scam

I recently had an item for sale on gumtree and I someone e-mailed me saying they were interested in the item and asked if I could post it. I said I could post it and by the next morning I had an e-mail send "on behalf of Paypal.com" with the usual look of a paypal payment - the title was:
Item #30243163- Notification of an Instant Payment Received from Malissa Field (blumoon_8@yahoo.com)‏ 05/11/2008

I realised after opening the email that it was fake and from a yahoo account. I'm sure the majority of people would realise this, however, I'm sure some people (my mum for one) would probably not notice this and could be caught out... Just a warning to be extra careful if someone offers you to pay for an item via gumtree or similar using paypal.

And to name and shame the bloke who did it, here are his details:

  • Post him something heavy without any postage through a post box. hopefully they will pay the postage and get junk in return LOL
  • Brick in a jiffy bag? a cunning plan...
In the probably unlikely event that I actually post something of use to someone, an ickle vote of thanks would be much appreciated, in fact I might frame it and put it up on the wall next to my cycling proficiency certificate :D

Better still boil some fishguts for an hour then leave them in a sealed bag for a week, after a week freeze them in the bag and then post them, by the time it arrives the "soup" should have thawed out nicely and be smelling something lke a skip full of seagull shlt.
