Ok, well hopefully the letter will mean a full hold, including them putting anything on my file. I have told them I have also sent a copy to my solicitor.

They have emailed me today asking me to call them. I really don't want this to go on my credit file. Do you think if I tell them I will pay it today and ask they do not put any trace of it on my credit file they will do this or do they have to update my file? There is no trace of it at the moment.

    Please help. Thank you

Or will it always leave a trace? I read somewhere that a default only shows 31 days after being unpaid so I I ask them to put a hold on the account for 30 days then go into a payment plan it shouldn't show on my file for 60 days should it? This is really stressing me out I can't sleep.

What do you think the best course of action is to prevent this showing up on my file at all. I contacted an old debt last month and then it showed up on my credit file, so far I have only emailed them, not rang.

I`m a little confused as to why its not currently on your credit file, does it appear in the "closed accounts" section, sometimes payday lenders just close bad debt accounts and stop reporting on them altogether.

However contact with the DCA is likely to re-light this fire.

You didn't answer Fatbellys question previously, what letter exactly have you received, is it a letter threatening court action, or an actual claim form ?

Also if you have recently opened up one can of worms which resulted in a default showing how is that one not an issue for your mortgage?

I ask as somebody who will be looking for a mortgage in 2 years time with many unsatisfied defaults from 2011 when a one life event left me 3k in debt through payday loans.

They have sent me a court claim form not a threat letter.

I am stressed because I don't want more than 1 default over £500 on my credit file. My mortgage advisor has assured me that the debt showing on my credit file at the moment is om as one is less than £200 and 4 years old, the other is 5.5 years old but £650. Since then I have paid everything on time and my equifax credit score is almost 900.
