Time weighs heavy on your hands when you're in hospital, and if you've got a foggy 'chemo brain' as well it can make concentrating difficult. I'd recommend loading talking books and podcasts on an Mp3 player, as you can fit a lot of entertainment on it. He might also enjoy radio if he has a smartphone, so take some headphones in either way. Magazines and newspapers might be easier to concentrate on than books, as you can read a little and then out it down without losing the thread. If he's arty, a pad and pencil can pass the time and be therapeutic as well.

I always appreciate aromatherapy in hossie, some lavender oil, or a woody one, or if you can stretch to it, a room stray is so nice to have , such as the Neal's Yard one. Also, eye masks are essential, the fleur lights are so taxing.
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)
