Hello all
Working through the IHT 400 and IHT schedules and suprised thet don't specifically ask for as much supporting documents as I expected.
I'm including property valuations, valuation of a diamond ring, copy of will, proof of personal loans, copy life insurance policy as these are asked for on page 14 of IHT,
However, evidence of cost of funeral, outstanding bills, mortgage documents (for joint mortgage), certificate of bank balances, copy share certs, none of these are specifically asked for, yet I see in other threads that people are submitting receipts etc.
Based on executor's experiences is it better to include additional supporting docs upfront or wait until specifically requested?
Thanks in advance.

I'd wait until specifically requested. If the estate isn't liable to pay IHT then HMRC won't care. If it's close to but just under the limit HMRC might look closely and request evidence. If it's clearly over the limit but you pay promptly HMRC will look, but not necessarily that closely.Signature removed for peace of mind0
