O/S Daily Thread for Wednesday 1st June 2016

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Pinch punch and all that.

    Condolences to Speky.

Yesterday I cleared out my kitchen cupboards and I have one box of stuff to sell and one box for the CS.

I missed the Writers Circle last night, I just couldn't face the torrential rain so I stayed home.

I've got to the bottom of why my DGD is refusing to go to dance class, no one will be her partner and they are being unkind to her, poisonous little b's. I've emailed the dance teacher to explain.

Today is going to be busy, I've already put the recycling out and got washing on the line.

I'm giving hubby and his colleague a lift to work, then on to the butchers.

From there I'm visiting DGD1, taking over a co-op £5 deal and seeing the DGC, then it's over to see DD2 to collect the DGD and take them to smiggle to buy smelly pencils.

Then take them home in time to collect hubby from work and get home ready for a delivery from Mr T.

Any decluttering done today will be done after 6 this evening.

Work is difficult for hubby this week, one of his team is on holiday so they are down to 2, they are moving equipment and some items weight 30stone, rather than pay a specialist company to do the moving they hired an 18 year old labourer to help. The labourer phoned in sick yesterday!

    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Speky - sorry to hear your sad news x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, he's on school holidays so he'll get up later.

Dinner last night was 2 x portions of a chicken dish that didn't get eaten at the weekend, DH and DS1 had those, and DS2 and I had chicken breast each, I served wedges, peas and mushrooms with it, sauce/gravy for those that wanted. I remembered to get the pork out of the freezer but it's still partially frozen so hoping that it defrosts in the fridge throughout the day - I'll have to have a re-think if not. I'll serve it with mash, veg and gravy if that's what we end up eating.

Work yesterday was manic, the weather here in the morning was awful so it was reasonably quiet which is very unusual but the rain and wind was horrendous, the weather then improved into the afternoon and it was then rather busy, we just didn't stop, had technology problems yet again which doesn't help! I'm working another full day today as doing the extra hours this afternoon, but I'm working on the phones in an office on my own so nowhere near as pressurized.

I have washing on airers all over my house at the moment it looks like a laundry but it's so cold and wet, hoping it improves soon.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

    Thanks for the thread HH.

It's another beautiful morning here, I've been watching the sea and for an hour whilst the swallows twitter away.

Yesterday I got the shoe rack / glove box painted and, despite the rubbish workmanship, it looks good. It's white with a red'ish front panel and almost exactly matches the colour in the stair carpet. Mind you, I'll not be painting anything again.

Today will be mainly housework. Dusting, vacuuming and floor washing, inbetweenn sitting outside in the sun. I'm collecting mum tomorrow for a visit.

I've got a hair appointment at 9 o'clock so brought the roll of cling film upstairs to wrap my bandaged thumb in before having a 'sort of shower'. It feels much better this morning, no throbbing, so I'll leave the dressing on and look tomorrow.

    Happy Wednesday everyone.

Another sunny morning here, loving it!

Gers, I hope your thumb heals soon, what happened to it?

No washing to do today but the 3 bits of ironing are done, I'm making the most of wearing summer dresses.

Not much to report, hope you are all well. Take care. XX

    Good morning everyone

It's a beautiful sunny morning here again. I am just sat here planning my day.

I am going to make a water roast for tea so I will get on and prep all the veg for that. I have the gas man coming to inspect the boiler this afternoon so I will be making sure the kitchen is all clean and tidy.

I will get on and cut up a load of salad too whilst I am in a chopping mood as I fancy it for lunch. I will ask DD13 if she will help as she likes to cook.

Speky, I was very sorry to hear about your gran x

Hester, I don't know how you do all that you do. If you could bottle your energy you would make a fortune:).

Thinking of the TA's as well, hope the treatment is going well x

Well I am going to crack on with everything . Hope you have a nice day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Moring all,

Miserable weather here the sky is very dark and looks full of rain, typical when we are planning a bbq at work this week and have got all the stuff in for it. It got rained off yesterday !

Should be going to mums for dinner tonight but she is poorly with a streaming cold its really knocked her for six, I will ring and ask if she needs anything later on. So our dinner tonight will be something mince based and something quick once we get in.

Need to do a wash tonight too and have a sweep round.

Specky I am so sorry to hear about your Gran xx

Good Luck to the TA's xx

    Have good days all xx

Trying to put a key onto a key ring - nail broke and the split went down to skin and got ripped off. Got half a nail and a very sore bit. I've decided to take off the dressing and wrap the thumb in cling film to have a shower, keeping the dressing on wasn't going to work.

Funny how such a small insignificant injury causes such hassle.

Meanwhile one of my Oz nephews (the youngest one whose party I went to last year) has sent a message saying his girlfriend is expecting, and there are possibly twins. Shocked, surprised, pleased and worried is my reaction. He's not had a job for years after working on tourist stuff in Airlie and they've already got a gorgeous two-year old. At least some new life will bring happiness after the loss of his eldest brother.

    Morning everyone,

Cold, damp and cloudy here, no sign of summer in East Anglia!

Work today but don't feel up to it, have a bad headache and a weird rash under my arm :( will see how I go.
Went over to see Bill in the afternoon but was so windy I groomed him in his stable so we could both be more cosy, there is a nest of swallows in the eaves of his box and everytime the parents flew in several tiny heads appeared, so cute. Does explain why have been seeing some bird poo on Bill's coat though! Cleaned it off and gave him a mini back massage whilst he was eating his hay, have to stand on my box to reach :rotfl:
Hester - poor GD, children can be so cruel at times but at least she has talked to you about it.
Gers - congrats on the baby news.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Good Morning everyone although its a grey and dark and damp looking one here in north Kent. But its a new month so just like opening a new book isn't it.
Today is my youngest grandson Mikey's 12th birthday and I've already had an excited message from him :):):) I am taking the whole family out for dinner tonight to Buddha Belly's in Maidstone Its an eat what you fancy restaurant with cuisine from all over the world. Its called an 'open theatre' kitchen and I have been once before and was so impressed with the range of food.Literally food from Italy France India,China Uk,USA and Jamaica and you have a plate and just graze on what you fancy There are seven different desserts as well that you can graze on and refill your plate with whatever you wish.Should fill three young boys tummies up at least, plus Mum ,Dad and I :):):) I will take DGS Ben out to dinner when he comes home from Uni later this month. So no cooking for me today at all,in fact I shall be only eating fairly lightly at lunch :):):)
The boys are looking forward to going out to eat as its not often they do so.
Weather is appalling though, there is no sign of sun at all and its quite nippy.
My eldest is down at Deal in her caravan with her Oh and her in-laws, They had a couple of nice days at the weekend but its been very wet since I think they went off to the Outlet centre in Ashford yesterday just to get out of the rain !!
Right time for a cuppa methinks
Hope everyone has a good day whatever they are doing

    Cheers chums
    JackieO xx
P.S. the Subways were great yesterday the boys enjoyed them better than a Maccy D's, and I had a lovely chicken and bacon salad box With the vouchers lunch for three of us including drinks and a cookie each was only £10.48 pretty good value and spotlessly clean

Good morning from cold and rainy west midlands, it wasn't actually raining when I got up but was clearly about to start, and now it is, steady earn, well at least the plants won't need any watering.

I put bedding in the washing machine before I went to bed, possibly a mistake, now I have a king sized duvet cover to drape over the rack. Oh well.

I made a humungous pizza last night, my bit was just plain, the other parts, for OH and DS had spicy meatballs, barbecued chicken and salami, very decorative it was. With carrot and parsley salad and garlic bread, all very pongy, at least we will all smell.

Despite the rain, I am enjoying these days off, may do some paperwork today and back in the office tomorrow.

Just in the time it has taken to type this message, the rain has intensified and although the weather report says overcast, not rain as such, I reckon that's wrong somehow!

Hope everyone has a good day, finger healing vibes, those things can sting.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
