So sorry to hear this rose.
In a former life I used to work for insurance loss assessors. They should arrange to get the property dry first and then sort the electrics and replace whatever was damaged - ceilings, flooring, carpets, etc. You are entitled to 'alternative accommodation' whilst your property is uninhabitable through lack of power, etc.

Thanks. Luckily this Premier Inn is walking distance to my house and work so I will be going in e veryday. Bit ironic really as I am about to have a new bathroom and possible kitchen so it looks like all rooms will be done now. Only 2nd bedroom has not been damaged which is a shame as thats the one with the oldest carpet. Oh wanted me to tear up the hall carpet today but I said no we must wait for assessor to come. DD has been great and took good care of me last night.

So sorry you are in a mess but look on the bright side, everything will be shiny and new when you finally get back in .
I deal with insurance assessors all the time and they are usually a great bunch and nobodys fools.
Just be polite and have a few bullet points, don't overload them with questions.
It doesnt matter how long it takes, they will get you a hotel for as long as it takes - also mention any medical needs etc if relevant.
If you can, start making a list of what is ruined, also I don't think it applies here but some insurances are void if the house is not checked every so many days while you are away.
Wishing you a bright shiny home very soon , take care xxxxx

Thanks and yes it will be shiny and new when its all sorted. Any idea how long they usually take to get it sorted? As in decorating and carpet replacement.
