I cannot work out why Tonig had the pic removed, been all through the forum rules. Do we have a sooty phobic on here? I am blaming a Pupaphobic with maybe a baked bean addiction ;)

Safeguard her from what? People looking at the photo. Now, remind me, what are you meant to do with a photo

I would have thought as you are her Mam it would be up to you to "safeguard" her.

If you felt it was OK to publish her photo and tell the lovely story you did then that should be your choice.

Is this a new rule then mse? There are kids pics on the "post a picture of your wins" thread and have been for ever.

What I can't get my head around is that Toniq posted a photo of her daughter, which was her choice and she was happy to do.
Then another member comes along and reports the photo to the Forum Team who then delete it.

If Toniq was happy for us to see it what has it got to do with anyone else?

My guess would be maybe MSE have to be overcautious because they have no way of verifying that the photo is of Toniq's daughter? Obviously common sense suggests it is, because posting a lovely story with a photo of a random child that isn't yours would be a bit odd, but I suppose from a legal standpoint MSE have to cover themselves and act as if the photo could be of anyone and therefore possibly without that person's (or person's parent's) permission? For privacy as well as safety? But then shouldn't there be a blanket ban of all photos of children (and possibly even adults), in that case, as it could have been posted without the permission of the person in the photo? I don't know, but like brownhandbag mentioned, if there are other photos elsewhere on the site, then why this one?

I know exactly where you are coming from YOTH and I agree completely..........but...........

Then we could go to extremes how do you know the dogs I post photos of are mine?
How do you know the prizes posted in IWIWIW do belong to the person posting the photo?
How do you know those fingernails in the 50 thread belong to the person posting the photo?

I know I am being a bit silly but I am sure you will know what I mean ;)

You are right though you either have to let people post photos they feel OK about posting or you have to put a blanket ban on all photos/images.

toniq was happy to share her photo with us, what gives a person the right to report her for that?

One person can't be allowed to post a photo of their child then the next person photo be deleted.

That isn't fair at all. :(

Exactly, I know what you mean and completely agree! :)
For all we know, you could really be a cat person! ;):D

MSE are entitled to have rules (although it would be helpful if the details of this "safeguard" rule were clearly written somewhere), but they need to be the same for everyone and upheld equally. It seems very odd and completely unfair that this one photo should be singled out.
