PPI Claim & Repayment of Arrears

I have been offered a settlement on my PPI claim against RBS but they say it will be offset against any arrears. I also have a loan with Nat West that is not connected to the claim. Does anyone know if they can offset the claim money against this loan?

The can use the right of set off against any connected debt. They cannot use it against an unconnected debt. e.g. if it was from a chain of loans, they can use it against the latest loan.
