Wow! Optimistic mummy - that is amazing!! Im not sure I could or would find the time to do this everyday - BUT it is fascinating to read! Of course it is what top restaurants and the big chains like McD and K!C do all the time. Intriguing! My son has recently gone vegan and swears it savs him loads! Not sure I can follow him but am trying to loose weight so only eating veg & meat with little carbs and not a lot of sugar and fat so that saves money! Will keep checking back and may cost out the odd thing to contribute. you ve set me thinking! Thank you

It looks interesting. How big are the portions?, what is on the pasta? (not on its own, surely?) what sort of curry is it?, and is it a pizza each or between four? How big?

I am guessing by the "half an orange each" that it was a struggle to stretch to fruit and vegetables? :)

Id swap the toast and jam for porridge. If you dont like cooked porridge you could make breakfast oats. Id make the wedges sweet potato ones. You could make a substitute rice from cauliflower or broccoli to go with the curry. Maybe add in some almonds to go with the sultanas and if you can't get YS fruit, Id think about buying some frozen berries to have with the porridge (that's if you like it and choose to have it), aldi do them quite cheaply.

Id also eat more eggs for breakfast, maybe with tomatoes, mushrooms.

Plus home made soup is always a way of getting your veg in quite cheaply.

There are loads more ideas on the £7 a week thread ...

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4084527&page=55

If I had £1 a day for a week the best I could manage was £6.91 .... but I could manage to eat this restricted diet for 7 days

    15 eggs £1.25
    1kg oats 0.75p
    2 tin peaches 35p each = 70p
    1 kg frozen chicken 1.75
    1 kg potatoes 0.69p
Loaf brown bread 0.40p (21 slices)
1 kg frozen mixed veg 0.77p
    mayo 0.40p
    gravy granules 0.20p

Breakfast - porridge made with water with spoon of mashed fruit & juice & poached egg on toast (7 eggs / 7 bread)
Lunch - 7 x egg mayo sandwich (14 slices bread/ no spread) couple pieces of tinned fruit
Dinner - roast chicken & shred into 7 portions with veg & potatoes & gravy

If I could get bread reduced in my local store (edit - all costed asd@ smart price ) which it sometimes has for 10p I would spend the rest on more fruit or veg. Ideally I would like to buy milk but cant cost that in under £7 without losing the fruit
