AI have just had a mad idea tonight, its a weird one how it came about, my parents lost their 1st daughter with cancer, she was only 18 mths old, and this month she would have been 48. Its weird as I was born 2 years and 2 days from when my sister passed away, my daughters birthday falls on 2 days later than what would have been my sisters bday.

So I am setting myself a challenge to do 50 things for charity, by September 2017 (her 50th).

Thinking...
Cancer - she passed away with cancer,
Dogs - She loved dogs, the dog my parents had when she was born, he then became my first dog.
Baby/Child - She was diagnosed as a baby when diagnosed

Its not going to be great feats like climbing everest/ raising 10k, more on a personal level, whether taking bag of items to charity shop, knitting blanket for dog, giving towels, bedding to dogs home.

In planning mode at mo, doing palm reading at swishing event, for kids mobility charity, crochet 10 blankets for charity - for babies that are born sleeping..., next charity shop trip, drop off a bag at hospice shop.

xx

1 - took bin bag of items to childs charity shop
2 - Brought bag of dog biscuits - homeless mans dog
3 - 8 bags to charity shop
4 - hire stall at dog charity

17 - sheets / towels - dogs home
18/19/20 - 3 more visits to doggie charity
21 - lent a family the shower on hols.
22 - batch 2 baby charity (fb group), 20 pairs of knitted booties, angel dress and
bonding squares
23 - 3 weeks away over summer, - every time I had change in shop - change

Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Feels good have done my 1st item, took a bin bag full of clothes (all new - too small), and carrier bag full of cards.

The clothes were dads - too small - summer items, (hopefully someone will buy them), the bag of cards, I tidyed up the dump it corner, and the amount of wrapping paper, cards etc I could stock a shop, so was ruthless and put over half the cards for charity. Dropped it off at a childrens charity,

Feels good to be one down..

Also knot 1 blanket for angel baby, but not going to send them till have 10 done for them x

Today was my sisters birthday, it seems mad as I never even met her, but it doesn't stop me having a 1001 questions.

Heres to more challenges, and making a small difference along the way xx

    Great idea Mum2One.

There are lots of charities that involve dogs working for people. As you know I make those doggy duvets- collected 20  yesterday , so there's the potential to make 80 duvets!!....... work for the next weeks, months, years!! This money is going to Dogs for Good- new name from Oct 15th for Dogs for the Disabled.
And of course there is Medical Detection Dogs- they are training dogs to sniff out different types of cancers. The latest pilot will be to see if they can detect breast cancer from the breath

Not too late to do the odd shoebox or two either! With Link to Hope you can choose family or OAP boxes. I know other charoities specify children and their age.

Sorry to hear you are not tackling Everest!
No, charity can be the smallest thing for someone- that makes their day.

I know you will be sticking at it- so well done!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything! --
    Many thanks

  • keep up the good work.

Our daughter was born sleeping over 3 years ago and we still treasure the blanket she was wrapped in (it still smells of her).
