Consultation period extended.

Options
Hi there,

i'm being made redundant and i was due to finish shortly after my consultation period with the 12 weeks notice paid to me. However I've just been asked to extend this.

Is this normal practice?

I've found a new job and due to start in a few weeks. What comeback do i have on my current employer if this affects my new job? Do i have any?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

They have asked if you can extend, this is a question that you can answer either yes or no, your choice. Since you have another job to go to just leave, what is the problem?

Have you been put on official notice of redundancy?

If not you still have a job and are not redundant.

If you have been given notice you may be able to give counternotice.

The employer may co-operate and still pay redundancy.
