Long shot but just thought I would run this by you clever
Lot. My Discovery Channel HD does not fill the entire screen. There are black spaces each side of the screen.
This only seems to happen with this particular channel.
Any ideas on a fix for this?

42" plasma TV if that makes any difference

Thanks

Is it a programme that was originally made in 4:3 screen ratio? If so, that might be the best way to view it without forcing it to stretch to fill the screen.

Alternatively, in the settings, what do you have the screen size/ratio set to? If it is in Auto, you do get the odd funny channel, so you could try setting it to 16:9 and see if that solves it.

Many thanks. Its already set to 16:9

Can I ask anyone who is able to check their Sky channel 526 Nat Geo and let me know if you have full screen?

    Thanks for all your help

Checked it's broadcasting in 16:9 however the programme on currently is 4:3 so there are hardcoded black bars.

This is as should be ,as if streched to 16:9 then everyone would look short and fat (I never understood why some people prefer that!).

There might be an option on your TV to make it display incorrectly if you like, but it would most likely chop of the top and bottom and zoom in the middle.
