Does "Search" assume "or" not "and" ?

Options
I've just searched for > "base rate tracker saving" < ...
... and got loads of results with mortgage base rate trackers?

If there are no posts with these FOUR words, it would be more helpful to return "No Results. Try changing search terms"

As it happens, via Google I eventually found a thread on MSE about BRT savings.

My preference would be for the search to default to "and" rather than "or" ....
... but if not, perhaps there could be a Guide for Searching which could explain any tools such as "-" (minus) to exclude words.

Thank you
