Bike Wanted

Can anyone recommend a good bike for a low price (£200 at most).

Hybrid/Mountain wanted. I think cycling on britain's roads is suicide, and the cycle paths here are in the country. But not true offroad/dirt track.

Halfords may be best choice, in that range?

Evans Bikes better quality, but ££..

    Ask here: http://www.cyclechat.net/forums/what-bike-buying-advice-and-bike-discussions.39/

I'm no expert, but my quick advice would be:

Does your employer to Cycle to Work? If so, explore it!
Do you have lots of Tescos coupons ?(Evans does a £5 gets you £10 gift card on clubcard) - so £200 of Tesco's clubcard points will get you a £400 bike from Evans - and they price match.
A good second hand bike will be better value than a £200 jobbie from Halfords.
Do you have friends or family with more money than sense, who have a new bike in the back of the garage doing nothing (most new bikes in the UK actually do less than 60 miles, sadly)? Will they lend/give or sell it to you?

But loads and loads of much better, better informed advice on Cyclechat - and they're friendly, too.
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

No to all of those questions.

    Thanks for the link.

I've also tried Gumtree, but nothing.

Have a google around for 2nd hand bike workshops too - my best bike buys were reconditioned and came out of a shed on a back street and a market stall respectively.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,

Just to say thanks for this heads up, was looking for a good use for my vouchers and have now doubled up in Evans vouchers for my new ride, replacing my first that I got on ebay!

Look for 'good' bike makes for sale locally, a good eye for a bargain will get you far.
