    You may have a problem.

A few more details would help to give a considered response. Was the product actually PPI, who sold you the policy . . things like that.

The Cheshire Building Society merged with the Nationwide in 2007. Any PPI mis-sale complaint should go to the Nationwide.

However; 1982 is 36 years ago, Nationwide may no longer hold any records.

Are you sure you actually had a MPPI policy?

In 1982, the likelihood is that this was Life Assurance.

It's very doubtful it was PPI so long ago..

I also doubt there will be any records almost four decades on..

Mortgage PPI covered the self employed.

This unlikely to be PPI anyway (more likely Life Assurance)

There is almost no chance that any record of this finance has been kept 36 years on.

    Was this PPI?

1982 would be rare for MPPI. It is right at the start of it being available and almost a decade before the lenders went sales crazy.

In 1982, the dominant insurance required for mortgages was life assurance. You are also looking at the period you had to pay MIG if you borrowed above a certain loan to value. Neither of those are PPI.

So, are you sure you had PPI?
