Best cost way to insure two cars

Been driving a 20 year old MX5 as my main car for the last 5 years, commuting daily. Just bought a Mercedes E320 (8 years old) today :j without really considering the insurance . My plan is to move the MX5 to a weekend/hobby car .
Any suggestions about the best way to get reasonable insurance for the two cars? I have umpteen years NCD, but I believe I can't split this between two cars, so will have to start one of them at 0 NCD?
Any suggestions, or company recommendations? (Age 42, one accident 3 years ago, but no claim as it was completely the other driver's fault, and he held his hands up to it). Clean license for 5 years.
All guidance appreciated, thanks.

Will either car be garaged? I had classic insurance on several cars all for under £100 a year fully comp with
salvage rights and agreed value.
But they must be garaged at night and had several other limitations. Hours of use and mileage etc. Depends on
car and policy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Sadly no, garage barely fits the bikes these days, no way I could get a car in. I will start with my own insurance company which currently covers the MX5 on specialist insurance (but based on daily commuting and see what they think first)
thanks for the suggestion0 -
Most decent brokers should be able to negotiate a second car discount for you. Even some direct insurers will offer it. Try to establish whether or not it will become your own genuine no claims after a year - better if it does as you'll be able to protect it if you want to - or what will happen to the discount if you need to claim - will it be stepped back or will you lose all of it?

Hi,
I've been running two cars for 12 years now. One a fun/hobby car the other a sensible daily commute.
I used to run two separate policies with two separate NCB's but in recent years things have become simple with "No Claims Mirroring".
I do this through my broker (Keith Michaels) who then applies it to BOTH policies. My actual policies were originally with different insurers but the broker handled everything. As one car was performance/prestege category and the other was "normal" to get the best price each was through a different insurer. This time round BOTH cars are with Aviva (so could go direct) as they offer a discount on the performance car as I also have the normal car.
Seems more and more places do this now, so it should be easy for you. Plus if you MX5 does under 5k miles a year you might get yourself a further discount.
Best of luck & let us know how you get on
Cheers,
