Have been reading this thread and would love to join in as I just have too much stuff.

So I have spent the morning clearing a heap of carrier bags and boxes which had somehow "appeared" in my bedroom. As the bottom bag was Christmas decorations which must have been missed when the rest of them were put into the loft in January the heap has been growing for 5 months.

I don't want to set myself a challenge I won't achieve as I need to do this by baby steps so can I say declutter 100 by the end of June?

    Today has resulted in
6 items for the "rag collection"
10 items for the charity shop
6 items to be listed on eBay though I won't count them until they are sold and mailed
1 bag of Christmas decorations put into the loft (does that count? it has certainly helped with the decluttering effect)
1 bag of assorted magazines, recipes, articles clipped from newspapers, expired coupons etc decluttered into the recycling bin
1 small pile of bills, statements etc which have been shredded and then added to the compost bin

So I make that 19/100 - not marvellous but a start.

    Thanks for the inspiration:T

I have only recycled some more old magazines today. I stopped all magazine subscriptions last year and although I miss not receiving them I do not miss the piles of half read ones.

I also have a confession to make - I impulse buy candles when they are on offer. I must stop buying them as they have taken over a whole kitchen cupboard. I burn lots of tea lights and love the low glow they give out but I have lots of large church style ones that have never been lit. I also burn those scented ones in the kitchen after I've made a curry but I have so many beautiful ones that are too pretty to light. I've got to stop hoarding and use them!

    Been in garage and sorted:
    82 bag of old eb@y stuff that hasn't sold/cba - cs
83 pile of half used electrickery bits - b1n
84 assorted boxes and packaging - recycling
85 pile of old paperwork found and sorted - stored or recycled

Garage looks better but the tubs are still full. One is decorating stuff, which is handy as I'm doing my bedroom at the mo and will be painting next week. One is car stuff so deicer, oil etc. one is lightbulbs, including the expensive outdoor ones, so will keep those, and I replaced one of the lr halogen bulbs that blew a week ago. One has spare drops for the vertical blinds, in case any get torn, so I guess I better keep those in case they discontinue the fabric.

Hi all. Still trying to de-mess my house. I was inspired the other day by something I read the other day 'some people want things to happen, some people wish things would happen and some people make things happen' so i'm desperately trying to make my house de-messy. x
