Going to the US 9 - 12 months. What's the best way to spend?

    You will find it hard to access banking in the US without a social security number, for just a year it may not be worth the effort.

    Clarity is the best way to get cash, my employer will pay the interest as if it were a forex fee.

    Just make sure you have a backup card. Amex UK do a USD card which may be worth a look.

    If your working in the usa you should have a temp social security number assigned as you will be paying tax etc. I'd open a bank account or have a look at a credit union account as an alternative - lots of atm's within the usa will charge you for a cash withdrawal - and majority of banks will charge for an account with them too - best bet is to ask around the people in your new place of work what the use and the fees
