I think the Ballys offer is probably the best deal, has anyone used it yet and managed to get good availability? I dont want to order 4 vouchers and not be able to use them altogether.
    Just need cheap flights aswell!

This is the view from our room at Ballys, of the Eiffel tower and the fountains on the right (can't see them as not on at that time!).

I'd lean towards Harrahs also -although I always end up at the Flamingo or CP too :)

honeypop - that room looks quite good! - can't wait to see how it compares to what ferf has experienced before as we'd be happy withthat :) (though at the moment, Bally's is $140 p/night for us, which I think I can get for less if I login but not got my details with me at the moment)

And I see the lure of Platinum keeps drawing you back. They have stopped the Wednesday night meet and greet, we were being cheeky over New Year and roamed in to see if we could blag some wine and tapas but the welcome night was no longer going:o
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Disaster, I was getting partial to free wine and food! :( - Not to worry.

Yeah, we love the Platinum - I believe it was you that first suggested it a few years back when they did their spring fling offer (with bottle of wine and free wifi), it's the only place we make sure we go out of our way to go back to. This will be our 3rd time there i'll always remember the missus being a bit wary of it the first time around as it wasn't on the strip / didn't have a Casino etc etc.

5 nights this time will be the longest we have stayed there but it's fantastic to just get away from the madness and having fridge etc is a blessing, and a bit of a money saver! - and in the words of the missus', the pool is a right sun-trap! (and has always been quiet when we're there!), with excellent loungers etc and shade if required :)

Not sure when you are going but going via link on smartervegas there are lots of nights for $36 at Luxor...3 nights would be about $180 in total so about the same as Lowcostusa but fully refundable..may be worth a look
cheers for the suggestions on that - it's not till September so that cheapest Luxor offer coming out through all the links I have directly with them is $166 inc. tax plus 3 nights resort fee (another $50) - i've not booked yet so may spend the extra tenner with lowcost to get the refundable version of the deal (as its early days) :)

    The classic room at Ballys.

Thanks very much! That's quite similar in all respects to the ST room we had several years ago - the view was awesome, it was NYE, and we ended up watching the fireworks from our room as we were both not very well, and not up to the crowds...it's not a renovated room, but as you found it's really big and perfectly comfortable.

Videos of standard rooms in both towers (though as I said, some have had renovated rooms in the ST, which I think may be similar to the NT rooms? Not sure -Luci - was your ST room renovated, or did you have a suite in the ST?

North Tower (ours, similar to every room we have ever had in the NT, though some have been swapped around in layout – fridge isn’t standard, was a nice surprise): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IPHzKzWjUQ

South Tower (found on youtube): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7qAJzuexTM

So the rooms are the same size, it's the furniture/decor that's different...and more chance of a better view in the ST
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

When we were in the ST it was in a Junior Suite, but it wasn't a refurbished room. However I didn't find the decor in the NT to be much more modern than the ST.

I'ts great having all that space in the room, but hubby would struggle to see the TV with it being so far away! :rotfl:

one thing i will say is Mandalay Bay takes ages to walk to! We went to see the last showing of The Lion King and it took the best part of an hour to get there!

When we have stayed at Mandalay Bay it's taken us an hour (or an hour and a half if stopping off for frozen cocktails / refill) to walk from our hotel room to the Fashion Show Mall / Wynn. If we timed the Gold Line bus correctly (and it arrived on time) it took just 15 mins.

We always like to walk up and down the strip at least once when we go just to see what's new and pop in and out of all the hotels.

We stayed for a week in Harrahs (Carnival Tower) before Christmas before we moved to the Aria, we do a cheaper week so we can stay in a better hotel for the second week, we also stayed in Bally's for a week in June (North Tower) and given the choice I would choose Bally's every time, much better room overall, in fact I thought the room in Harrahs was a bit grubby and tatty particularly the carpet, it's well down on my list of best Vegas hotels!

My husband has said he wants to stay in every Las Vegas hotel, we have only done 14 so far, there are a few I don't think I will be staying in though!

Thanks peeps. I know that Bally's would have a better room, but the location of Harrah's is tempting me. Not that there's actually anything in that area that we must see or do, just that it is a different area.

We are staying the other 9 nights at the Carriage House and it feels as if Bally's is more or less the same area.

OK, decision made. Bought the TZ vouchers, phoned Bally's and booked 4 nights there. Cancelled the existing Harrah's reservation.

It must have been the right decision as I am quite excited to be staying at Bally's again when I wasn't really fussed when I booked Harrah's.
